AutoCad experience with 2D Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings.

Updated MSWord Assembly and Testing Procedures for tools and surface panels

Professional Experience

BAKER HUGHES, Houston, Texas

Mechanical Designer February 1998 to June 2016

Create Solidworks models, assemblies, details drawings of prototype tool designs for manufacturing to produce. Use SAP to create and update BOMs.

One of our field bases returned an old telemetry tool that had never worked properly and needed serious electronics updating. Our team stripped out the interior electronics chassis, saving the external pressure housing and subs. We discovered that the problem with the tool was a bad solder joint at the top end power connector. We then rebuilt the tool with a new electronics chassis that I designed, PC boards, and a new wiring harness. The rebuilt tool has performed flawlessly, sometimes circulating at temperatures of over 200-degrees C for as long as 70 hours.

Designed a small portable ruggedized acquisition system that fit into a box and could be taken to remote jobsites. It could be plugged into any wireline logging system, including our competitors, and run the downhole tools. During testing, the ruggedizing for the system was tested accidentally when the people moving it from one building to another dropped it from a cart to the ground. When they picked up the box system off the ground, it was plugged in and powered up. It worked without any problems.

Some of our projects saved the company over $400K per year.

Design tooling, and fixtures, order materials for prototype testing to verify the designs.

Work with marketing and manufacturing on the design of new products per field base request.

Revised parts and assemblies, initiated ECO’s and ECR’s using Teamcenter.

Supported several product lines of surface panels and downhole tools.

Checked detail drawings to meet company standards and ASME Y14.5 drafting practices.

Revised manufacturing Assembly and Environmental Testing procedures per engineering requests.

Produce new prototype tools.
