It is with great pleasure that I submit this letter of reference for Michael Clodfelter, Construction Project Manager and Site Inspector.
I first worked with Michael on the USDOL Albuquerque Job Corps Dormitories project, which was the DOL’s first LEED-certified project. Our success on that project was largely due to Michael’s unflagging attention to detail and outstanding work ethic.
For several years, Mr. Clodfelter has been our ‘go-to’ Site Inspector for difficult, remote- site projects for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The term ‘Site Inspector’ does not do his position justice. With BIA management budgets cut to the bone, Michael has been an onsite Project Manager, Tribe/BIA/Contractor liaison and Owner’s Representative. Our clients at BIA have come to rely upon his mature judgment and extensive knowledge of construction.
It is a measure of my respect and admiration for Michael Clodfelter that had our BIA Inspection work not dried up, I would not be writing this letter. He has proven himself time and time again under difficult field conditions and with complex, highly-technical projects, and I hate to see him leave us.

As the General Operations Manager of Spaceport America, my responsibilities include oversight of the construction of this $209 million facility. For our current Phase II construction, SDV Construction is providing comprehensive construction management services. Phase II includes several major projects and elements
•Off-site Welcome Center in Truth or Consequences
•On-site Visitor Center
•2000-ft runway extension plus rip/rap around the runway
•Independent Quality Assurance Testing
•Fit out construction of the Virgin Galactic Gateway to Space 4000 sq ft NMSA area
•Fit out construction of the Spaceport Operations Center (SOC)
•On-site security facility which includes internal road re-alignment and utilities extension.
It has been a pleasure working with Michael Clodfelter and Matt Porela the onsite SDV Construction management team on these projects. Construction at Spaceport America entails significant challenges, contributed to by the remoteness of the site, its large geographic extent, and the highly varied nature of the individual projects. SDV has met these challenges with stellar performance. Their team’s timely actions, attention to detail, and flexibility in the face of a very dynamic set of working conditions have exceeded all expectations. Managing exciting construction projects from development to delivery are my professional drivers! Nothing is more exciting than seeing a missile launch or a grand opening on something built from team work, perseverance and attention to quality. As you can see from my resume and project list, I have extensive hands-on experience as a Project Manager on construction projects from inception to completion. I have been involved in projects varying from the smallest works to $225 million projects, covering all aspects of aerospace, high rise commercial, industrial and civil works, design build court houses, museums, power plants, highway and bridge construction, Airports, runways, fueling systems, restaurant and retail build outs, hotels, schools and prisons. Many of these projects have included design teams from Germany, England, and Bahamas, giving me a unique prospective on international design laws and cultural differences. While working on teams that included Loveless research facilities, Sandia Laboratories, Los Alamos, New Mexico State Space Authority, Space Exploration Inc.(Space X), Virgin Galactic, OFMC management for the BIA, multibillion dollar Construction Company’s. This experience has improved my skills with emphasis on quality and excellence, while allowing me to approve and oversee projects that have achieved silver and gold status in the Leeds Government awards program. I have been directly involved in design build projects that create award winning installations and economic savings for the owner of the buildings completed on my watch. I am a strong team manager who will interact positively with clients, contractors, laborers, and consultants to provide the highest level of support and service. Paramount to my philosophy is creating a cohesive project team environment in which all stake holders focus on a common goal. I have great proactive skills allowing my team to promote on time management of the project.
In this economy I have witnessed a turn in how we have to do business to survive and the key to that survival can be a willingness to discover Managers dedicated to see that the company they are managing succeeds.
