Participated in the Texas Legislative Internship Program during the 84th Legislature with Senator Royce West. During that time, I assisted him in daily tasks including attending committee meetings, writing speeches, reviewing suggested bill language, research and background on current bills, and drafting my own proposed legislation.

Commissioner at Large Intern
The Leon County Commissioner At large Internship provided hands on experience in the day-to-day operation of county government. Worked with the Commissioner on special projects with the oversight of the Commissioner Aide and with the Chief Clerk to assist with the planning and preparation of weekly public meetings. Researched issues to aid in developing county ordinances of animal tethering laws and noise ordinances. Dealt with various county issues including, but not limited to, administration, communications, economic development, human services, and criminal justice.

Investigative Intern
One of the main responsibilities of the Investigative Intern position was conducting intake interviews of defendants. This included questioning the defendants about their past history and listening to their stories about the incidents with which they are charged. These interviews were either completed in the Public Defender’s Office via video chat. Other responsibilities included interviewing witnesses and victims. On a weekly basis, I viewed trials, court proceedings and depositions.
