Implemented smaller lot sizes to improve efficiency. Nor-Cal Products (NCP), a steel products manufacturer, experienced production bottlenecks with Large Lot Sizes. Implemented smaller lot sizes with new tooling strategy. Reduced lot size 80%, decreasing setup time 35% and increasing both productivity and throughput.
Reduced lead times for special orders 40%. Specialized Finished Goods at NCP were requiring excessive lead times. Led team that collaborated with external consultant to implement work center sequencing and migrated systems from MRP to JIT manufacturing. Nearly cut lead times in half within six months.
Improved raw materials in stock to 92% with better forecasting. Finished Goods at NCP had too long a lead time causing numerous problems and backlogs. Worked closely with supply chain partners to provide six months forecasts on long lead items. Increased raw materials in stock to 90+% resulting sharply improved scheduling.
