Current Project Synopsis:
CSAA (California State Automobile Association) Insurance Group provides Automobile, Home Owners and Umbrella insurance. My current project deals with analyzing the efficiency of the underwriting process by measuring varied metrics such as number of home inspections, number of rules overridden for a policy bind, number of policy renewals, turn-around time for a quote bind, etc. to determine the potential areas of improvement to bring down the expenses and increase the efficiency of the underwriters and related processes.
We as a team, gather and aggregate data and build reports on these metrics to determine the key areas of improvement.
Previously, I was involved in a very interesting engagement of Marketing (Customer 360) for this insurance provider where the goal was to identify the potential new customers (cross-sell) and service the existing customers to ensure customer retention and repeat business. The first release of this program was hugely successful in attracting new and existing customers to buy the insurance products from CSAA.
Engage with the client to gather business requirements and business rules and document the same in Business requirements document (BRD) and systems requirement document(SRD)
Apply different requirement gathering techniques like JAD sessions, prototyping, interviews and meetings to develop and agree upon a system that focuses on the business requirements
Create independent, small and testable user stories for each item in the product backlog and groom it periodically
Coordinate with the team to create the sprint backlog for each sprint
Channel and identify business users’ needs by asking relevant questions and replaying the requirement with a real world scenario
Prioritize requirements, changes and issues to handle multiple tasks in a seamless and cost effective manner
Perform periodic “As-is” and “To-be” state for gap analysis
Provide periodic scrum notes, sprint reviews reports and regular status of project velocity and budget consumption during continuous deployment phases
Liaise between the business and technical teams to translate the requirements(HLD), challenges and updates on the progress of the implementation
Interact with the data modelers and provide inputs to design the target data storage
Data profiling to find anomalies and data patterns (such as valid data availability, NULL percentage, etc.) using medium to complex SQL queries
Work closely with the testing team to define scope and lock test plans
Validate the target data and its integrity post the development deliverables using SQL Queries and advanced MS Excel functionalities(pivot tables)
Conduct UAT with the cross-functional business teams to ensure the solution is in alignment with the requirement from the business teams.
Providing post-implementation, enhancement and maintenance support to client for application
