I am looking for software contracts for work in Client/Server, Web or RDBMS areas. Locations outside my commute area will require additional compensation for lodging. This may include activity in development, administration, training and consultation. Personal objective is to build upon the expertise I have gained over the years in enterprise-wide databases, development, administration and training arenas; to enhance projects with a team focus and strong work ethic; and provide financial resources to move into retirement. Centralized Metropolitan Physical Therapy Application

Personally developed a completely new application in Application Express (APEX), an Oracle Middleware product, on Oracle 11G database, for 25 Physical Therapy clinics with over 100 clinicians. Modules included administration, scheduling, billing, and electronic medical records.

Designed architecture, data layout, screens, logic and interfaces for entire system.

Created schemas, tables, queries and reports for entire system, loading data into schemas.

Solution was highly customized with extensive PL/SQL, Javascript, CSS, AJAX and back-end UNIX software.

Data validations performed in the front-end and the database.

Provided operating system, database and application tuning. For example, converted slower PL/SQL procedural logic to complex SQL query with multiple set operations and sped up response time by a factor of 10.

Automated complete backup, both physical and logical; and disaster recovery.

Telecom Revenue Assurance Application

Managed project and coded back-end logic for a significant data warehouse application owned by Engel Consulting, Inc.

System was built on Linux and Oracle RDBMS and included redundant Sun servers with a large SAN for storage.

Principal architect in system, data and logical design.

Configured, administered, and maintained middle-tier application server and middleware software.

Millions of telephone call records and billions of bytes of data, from multiple telephone companies, were aggregated daily into the warehouse for decision support. By tuning both UNIX processes and Oracle DML statements, we were able to insert a million rows in less than five minutes.

Automation was performed using UNIX shell scripts and Oracle tools.

Back-end ETL processes where done via awk, C language, and PL/SQL.

Front-end was Oracle Application Express (APEX).

2002 to 2003

Oracle Database Administration

Provided end-to-end DBA support for all Oracle instances of the city of Kansas City, Missouri. Most were large IBM AIX instances; duties included configuration and administration of these.

Created schemas and tables into which data was loaded.

Interviewed and trained all new employees for their Oracle DBA position.

Tuned Oracle instances and recommended SQL changes for faster application responses.

Provided for physical and logical backup; and hot standby systems

Shipyard Scheduling Application

Developed a scheduling application on Oracle HTML/DB (forerunner of APEX, an Oracle Middleware product) for the Norfolk, Virginia shipyards
