Work History

McCain Foods – Presque Isle Maine, Othello, Washington - Burley, Idaho - Coaldale, Alberta Canada 1990 - 2016

Supply Planner (1992 – 2016)

Production planning at the plant level. Created a production plan for a 21 day plant cycle working with 300 plus different products. This was accomplished using minimum run lengths while still maintaining 40 days of inventory or less. Allowed me to plan for multiple plants. Working knowledge of SAP planning software to help layout production plans.

Maintained high customer service levels at 95% or better using customer demand. Which retained and grew our customer base. Keeping high customer service levels helped our company increase business levels with various companies like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Sysco Food Service.

Managed inventory levels to meet company goal of 40 days of inventory. Each pound reduced saved the company approx. 1 to 2 cents per pound with an average of 25 million pounds being stored on one given site.

Worked with mid management, Research & Development, and Sales to help introduce new potato French fry products. Which allowed for business growth. Test runs of new products and the creation of packaging based on customer specifications was accomplished on and average of a 30 day or less window.

Worked with Agriculture Department. Daily interaction with the agriculture department to assure the production plan matched the raw material (potatoes). Adjusted the production plan if needed to use up raw material that had quality issues. Also worked with the agriculture department to assure the small sized potatoes were used in a timely manner to avoid quality issues.

Helped manage the warehouse tonnage space with the warehouse managers. If the warehouse was getting full (over 25 million finished pounds) the production schedule would be adjusted to help maintain proper inventory tonnage levels. This was accomplished while maintaining high customer service levels by having the correct safety stock levels. Helped facilitate weekly tonnage meetings with on- site managers and corporate managers.

Helped manage lower grade products by contacting sales managers with the available pounds of product that we could pack. Inventory levels of lower grade products were given weekly to the sales manager who in turn instructed the plant on what needed to be packed. On average this accounted for 300,000 finished pounds of fries. This also in turn helped manage warehouse space.

Worked along with the Plant management team to ensure proper production line rates (pounds per hour). Quarterly meetings to discuss any products that would need increases or decreases in hourly line rate using historical line rates and actual line rates from daily production reports. Maintaining proper line rates helped with business growth. When line rates were increased I contacted our corporate planning managers so they were aware that we had open capacity that could be filled with new business.

Worked with Plant Engineering team to help coordinate downtime for any capital projects. This was done in advance of the project so I could properly pre-build inventory levels to cover during the downtime the was requested.

Daily interaction with the purchasing department. The on site purchasing manager would let me know daily of any issues with delivery of ingredients. When there were issues I would adjust the production plan to help accommodate the change in delivery of ingredients.

Worked to increase production run lengths. The longer the production run would reduce the amount of times that products were produced each month. The average cost of a production cut change was approx. $1,000.00. By reducing cut changes, capital was increased.

Traffic Coordinator / Customer Service (1990 – 1992)

Worked with customers to process orders to maintain high customer service levels at 95% or better using inventory level reports. Which allowed for business growth of 1 to 2 percent annual.

Followed up with customers if there were issues filling orders. Which helped maintain high customer service levels of 95% or better.

Contacted transport carriers to deliver customer orders. Which allowed growth with Transportation Companies.

Followed up with carriers to confirm on time deliveries. Which enabled the company to track our service levels and increase business by 1 to 2 percent annual.

insure orders were complete. This allowed me to grow my relationship and trust with customers.

Worked daily with warehouse managers with loading issues. Breakdowns would cause the loading schedule to be adjusted. I would call carriers if there were issues and help re-schedule the pick-up times if necessary.

United States Air Force – Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Administrative Specialist- Honorable Discharged

Assigned rooms for guests coming to live at the base and people in transit from other bases.
