Project Details:

Project title: “Development of Chilled Al-Zn-Mg alloy and to evaluate its Mechanical Properties and Microstructure”

Description: Aluminium alloys are very weak because it is ductile in nature, its mechanical properties are poor and its alloys are light weight in nature. Therefore by adding required proportion of zinc and magnesium to aluminium alloy the mechanical properties enhanced & its microstructure is studied. Aluminium-Zinc-Magnesium are gone through moulding process and placed inside the graphite crucible then it will be kept into the furnace and heated around 8000C. The alloy composition will melt completely and it will be pour into mould pattern with the help of riser.

The specimen obtained from the above procedure will goes under-Tensile strength, Hardness and Microstructure test. After considering the results of all three tests for different compositions we came to know that aluminium tensile strength and hardness will be increased by the addition of Zinc and Magnesium.
