Career Objectives

Interested in finding a position in a technical, hands on field that focuses on problem solving, overcoming technical challenges and allows for personal and professional growth. Summary of Qualifications

4 years of experience as a lab technician/assistant in both microbiology and material science labs as well 2 years experience as a process engineer in nanotechnology. Working knowledge of both life and physical science techniques and processes

Work History

Madico Inc / Lintec of America NSTC, RICHARDSON, Texas Process Engineer Oct 06, 2014 - May 11, 2016

Synthesis of vertically aligned carbon nanotube arrays in several morphologies and on varied substrates from raw materials. Design of novel VA-CNT array morphologies tailored to specific use cases and applications, as well as design, maintenance and daily oversight of implementation of the processes by which the end products were synthesized (QC). These processes included the use of many large pieces of lab equipment and required vast knowledge of techniques and protocols from several disciplines within the natural and physical sciences. This included most often the use of an electron beam thin film deposition system, a wide selection of customized chemical vapor deposition (Thermal CVD) furnaces as well as commercially available models, and many custom built pieces of machinery that was used to coat or manipulate the CNT arrays after synthesis. Maintenance and modification of all equipment mentioned above which required the mastery of skills from several fields within the realm of engineering such as vacuum system maintenance and upkeep, electrical engineering and design, 3D printing and basic 3D rendering/modeling, soft/firmware development for custom lab devices (C, C++, Java, Ardiuno, Python). Design and construction of novel chemical vapor deposition furnace systems used in spinnable CNT array production.

Leadership of a 3 person team of lab assistants. Responsible for assigning daily tasks and overseeing the progress of each members work. Organized, produced and presented weekly progress reports for team meetings and quarterly company wide progress report meetings covering the progress of not only my work but that of my team as well. I was also solely responsible for overseeing the development of several large scale projects in the R&D pipeline. UTD Nanotech Institue, RICHARDSON, Texas

Lab Tech / Advisor Jun 11, 2012 - Apr 10, 2015

Synthesis of carbon nanotube vertical arrays from raw materials, as well as maintaining, repairing and modifying the equipment used in the process. The bulk of the process consisted of coating of silicon wafer substrates with catalytic material via e-beam evaporation, preparation of substrate for deposition, followed by designing and overseeing custom chemical vapor deposition processes for each substrate depending on several variables. All the while maintaining the utmost quality control standards to ensure the purity of the final product via Raman spectroscopy and SEM.

My other responsibilities included design and overseeing implementation of test devices and customized equipment used throughout the lab, as well as standard housekeeping, restocking and ordering supplies and management of a small team of undergrad researchers. Weatherford College, WEATHERFORD, Texas

Laboratory / Teacher's Assistant Aug 17, 2009 - May 06, 2011 Daily duties included but not limited to: Equipment maintenance, laboratory media preparation, autoclave sterilization of lab materials after use, being responsible for the cleanliness/organization of both the lecturing hall and undergraduate labs, maintenance of a substantial reagent inventory, tutoring students in both lab technique and classroom work.

I also organized and lead many optional study groups / supplemental instruction sessions on various topics in molecular and microbiology on my own time but representing the biology department for which I worked. Enrichment Center For Home-Schoolers, AZLE, Texas

Biology Instructor (Grades 8-12) Dec 01, 2008 - May 02, 2011 Instructor oriented duties included: Lecturing in basic biology, biomedical research, chemistry and physics, as well as lesson plan preparation, exam prep and grading, organization and leading of one on one as well as group tutoring sessions with students, upkeep and assignment of student scores, and development and oversight of weekly lab activities.

Administrative duties included the purchasing responsibilities for lab equipment and learning materials, organization and upkeep of all lecture halls and labs within which my classes were held and the organization and preparation of the occasional open house style events with the parents/families of students.
