Improvement of Voltage profile & Reactive power control using different SVCS(Static var compensators) in Power System.

Review:

This project In Electrical power system variation in system voltage & frequency with

change in load creates problem in system stability. In order to make system stable reactive

power compensation is essential moreover variation in reactive power has impact on

generating unit, transformers, transmission line. Previously Reactive power control was

done by changing excitation of generator but major drawback of this method was increase in

losses & voltage sags. Static var compensators (tcr, fc-tcr, tsc, tsc-tcr) used for reactive

power compensation consist of electronic switches to regulate line Reactive power.

SVC is more economical as solid state switches more cheaper than mechanical coupled

switches, Installing of different SVCS to improve dynamic voltage control & increase

loading capacity of transmission line which results in increasing power transfer capability.

In this project analysis of different svcs using MATLAB for improvement of voltage profile

& reactive power control in power system.
