2007-Present Enterprise Resource Planning
Operations Manager
Project management and project controls management.
Experienced in turnarounds and capital improvement projects in refineries and process chemical facilities including projects up to $92 million (Monroe Refinery after the purchase of the facility).
Managed TARs (implemented the networking of P6 and set up the structure of P6 and set security parameters that kept data base manageable; implemented gate tracking software which including contractor and staff training for our expectations) at Murphy Oil in Chalmette, LA and Wales, UK (Murco had new plant management and they were uneasy about an upcoming TAR, so I was called in to approve the baseline schedule and estimate. After review, I shaved 3 days off their baseline schedule, meaning savings of $1 million for the plant. (Both on budget and under-schedule.)
Was involved with helping Monroe (Delta Airlines) purchase a refinery for $330 million which included due diligence for Monroe Refinery in Trainer, PA. Orchestrated the structure of project controls and all personnel and implemented Primavera and the accounting software, Advantis (their version of SAP); implemented gate tracking software as well.
Led the project controls team in commissioning the expansion unit at Motiva Enterprises (largest refinery in the world) in Port Arthur, Texas which took it from being approximately a 300,000 bpd to 800,000 bpd facility. This expansion was $14 billion.
Project manager for commissioning of Water Treatment Facility for 2.5 months ($15 million) for Ecco Petro in La Castilla, Colombia (Coordinated from the Aker Solutions Corporate Office with executive leaders in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.)
Have developed and integrated FEL 1-3 with production design schedules on capital projects at Dupont and Western Refining.
2004-2007 Ohmstede Industrial Services
Corporate Field Service Manager/Area Branch Manager (Sulphur, LA)
Estimated, planned, executed $20 million refinery turnaround @ Western Refining in El Paso, Texas.
Total EPC involvement meaning grassroots, new construction of Flare Gas Recovery, DHDS, Cat Gas HTU. (Roughly all $15+ million)
Managed another $50 million petrochemical refinery turnaround in El Paso (On budget and on schedule.) Introduced gate tracking software before the big TAR and brought in contractors for pre job orientation and to teach them our expectations.
I was responsible for reporting high level views of critical path schedule items and any negative variances on the estimate. TARs at Western Refining required project status update meetings that were televised to the entire refinery and were performed twice a day.
2003-2004 Ohmstede Industrial Services
Project Controls Manager
I was hired to set up the project controls systems for Ohmstede because they wanted to start a turnaround division. I had to implement estimating and tracking software for the whole division which included 5 branches.
