Project: GLS2 China Gaps – DBCS (Double bytes Conversion System)
The interface framework developed as a part of the main GLS2 (Global Logistic System2) project was meant to handle single byte data between UI and backend part. DBCS Project has been started with the analysis of converting the Chinese (double Byte) data flow from HOST to UI via, Top end Servers. Normally, English/Spanish characters are single byte, and there were technical challenges to migrate the GLS2 Application for Double byte character support. After much analysis, the simplest of all the options is, during display in the UI, the characters will be converted to Chinese. Whereas in all other places, say, Data sent from HOST, Top end server data handling everything will be in ASCII, and once the data sent to the GLS2 UI, the ASCII characters will get converted to Double Byte characters.

The main objective of the project is customer to whom the Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) product was wrongly sold had to be tracked and the reimbursement has to be done before the deadline. Hence a tool is being designed to automate this process. This tool is to gather the data from all related banks database and process the data to ensure the correct customer for whom the repayment has to be made are obtained. All these data are processed and the information is gathered so that a letter (final output) would be sent to each customer regarding the status and the compensation details.
