Joined the US Navy in 2009 and started as a Help Desk Support Technician, promoted to repair parts officer responsible for managing a budget of over $30,000 and ordering parts to perform maintenance and replace end of life cycle systems aboard the USS George Washington. Transferred to Fort Meade Maryland in 2013 and was promoted to lead system administrator responsible for leading a team of 3 technicians in providing Tier 2 support of server systems comprising of Microsoft and Red Hat Linux operating systems. In 2015 promoted to Netops Watch Officer responsible for identifying and coordinating severe system and network outages impacting Navy shore and Fleet operations. Finally, responsible for developing and proving briefs to high ranking personnel in order to aid in commander decision making process.

Achievement Highlights:

Enhanced Availability: Led a 3 member team in transitioning from mainly contracted to full time military support of a major server system. Implemented 24 hour support schedule that achieved significant improvements to system uptime reducing a response and restoral time that often spanned hours or days to one resulting in less than 30 minute response time and less than 3 hour downtime, and reducing outage occurrence from frequent to rare.

Project Management: Led enterprise level hardware/software maintenance and installation; oversaw repair parts budget responsible for ordering parts needed to ensure system uptime and replace out of life systems in addition to performing help desk support duties.

Security: Strengthened system/network security and hardening, including tracking major naval operations responsible for reducing network attack surface and PII exposure risk.

Troubleshooting: Rectified many issues by using best practices in system log analysis, backup restore, network operating center security, user account/permissions management and systems/software auditing.

Honorably Discharged: Separating from the United States Navy September 9, 2017 after 8 years of service as an information systems technician with terminal leave anticipated to begin end of June.
