SUMMARY
Manufacturing and design engineer capable of directing projects from inception thru delivery with capital equipment justification, documentation, and launch experience. I have a proficiency in SolidWorks with EPDM or Windchill directed towards the design of tooling and fixtures using design analysis tools like cosmos express. All with a poky yoke mentality.
I have 18 yrs. of Management in the automotive, aerospace, and furniture industries with the primary focus in precision CNC machining of parts in all types of materials from plastics to Inconel. I have worked with CNC machines for many years and have integrated a lot of peripheral equipment, bar feeders, robot, and inspection equipment.
SKILLS
ISO – 9001: 2008/ TS 19649 Process Improvements

EXPERIENCE
Ritz Instrument Transformers 2015 – Jan.-Nov.
Manager: Manufacturing Engineering and Quality
Served as the Quality Management Representative for Ritz USA
Maintained the equipment calibrations, CCR log, Quality Alerts, and kept the CAR program functional.
Introduced improvements to manufacturing to reduce labor and improve quality and safety.
Charleston Marine Container Inc., SC (Out of business) 2012- 2014 – Dec. – Jan.
Manufacturing Engineer
Develop, and implement processes for the best utilization of labor and equipment.
Design and build fixtures, templates, and tooling to aid in the fabrication and integration of the product.
Most recent template saved the operator 30 minutes per container by eliminating the layout of hole locations.
Resolve assembly issues. Example: Critical dimension between walls not consistent.
Cargo doors were binding when opened causing the walls to flex.
Hinges were out of alignment.
Designed and built a fixture to hold the hinge lugs in line while welding.
Resolved safety issues. Example: Injuries occurring when moving containers on the conveyer system.
Personnel pushing the container were not able to see in front of the container.
Invented a semi- automatic conveyer stop for each station that required an operator to be positioned at the front
of the container to release it.
Improved product flow. Example: designed a cart pulled by fork lifts with articulated steering to navigate
sharp corners eliminating the need for a second fork lift to control the tail.
Force Protection, Ladson, SC (Three month contract) 2011-2012 – Sept. – Nov.
Design Engineer
As a contract design engineer I designed, and procured test fixtures for individual vehicle modules.
Textron, Marine & Land Div. Goose Creek, SC 2008-2011
Design Engineer
Designed components specific to customer requirements for several military vehicles. (Hatches, doors,
mounting brackets, changes to the drive train).
Designed and directed the build of production tooling for welding the hull & appurtenances using the bottom up principle eliminating errors associated with designing fixtures to fit assemblies.
Processed engineering changes in support of current vehicle production.
Protected Vehicles Inc. Charleston, SC (out of business) 2007-2008
Manufacturing & Design Engineer
Set up work cells for integration.
Redesigned vehicle components for manufacturability.
Designed welding & machining fixtures.
Agritek, Holland Mi. 2000-2007
Project Engineer
Designed, built and implemented peripheral equipment, production gages and tooling.
Developed, built and tested prototype tooling.
Produced all 3D modeling and prints for an automated military antenna trimming machine.
Programmed (M&G code) all CNC equipment, lathes, mills. I designed, built and implemented a new fully automated work cell with robot, CNC lathe, drill and tapping machine, and inspection station. I was responsible for all projects from cradle to grave.
In the company’s move to a new location, I set up new work cells and arranged equipment for
the most efficient and cost effective product flow.
Martin Machine Inc. Holland, Mi. 1987-2000
Owner
Produced precision CNC machined parts for companies in Western Michigan. This included all fixture design and programming.
Executed all of the duties and functions associated with owning and operating a business.
Proto-Cam Inc. Grand Rapids, Mi. 1985-1987
Manufacturing Engineer
In the company’s move to a new location I arranged equipment for the most efficient and cost
effective product flow.
Designed tooling for best utilization of machine tool capabilities.
Provided all quoting for two months securing $ 250m new business annually.
Programmed all CNC Equipment. Mills and lathes.
