WORK EXPERIENCE
Denso – Industrial Engineer – Battle Creek, MI 01/2016 – 12/2016
• Collaborated with a team to conduct time studies, simulation, and analysis on a new components parts delivery system to enable just-in-time (JIT) production. o Time studies determined bottle-neck changeovers, and then analysis was used to determine variation in changeover times between different models.
• Applied quality statistics, Excel, ProModel software, and JIT production systems to establish necessary lot sizes of production.
• Maintained changeover impact in the reduction of the facility’s warehouse space while ensuring parts pick and feed operation could keep up with two radiator final assembly lines.
• Performed time studies in each zone, identifying changeover bottleneck zones and removed first and last piece jig checks to remain under production loss ratio of 3%.
• Identified $75K+ in cost savings by implementing changeover processes. Hooters Simulation Validation Project – Portage, MI 01/2016 – 04/2016
• Performed multiple simulation tests to increase customer service and decrease wait times.
• Concluded that the addition of a breading station and another cook did not influence ticket time. o Recommended rerunning the same scenario to test effects on ticket times. o Suggested portioning out chicken, crab, and shrimp in quantities of 5 to increase efficiency. MEBS International – Plan Analyst Intern – Kuwait 08/2013 – 08/2013
• Supported the creation of process flow charts and materials for the business for post contract execution plans to increase organizational efficiency. o Process flow charts included onboarding new employees and making visa arrangements. Consolidated Contractors Company – Engineering Intern – Kuwait 06/2012 – 08/2012
• Gained hands-on experience with welding, cutting, and bending pipes, using lathes, grinders, cutting discs, hydraulic jack, electric panels, junction boxes, and pneumatic grinders.
• Benchmarked the pipeline pathway excavation site using GPS monitoring systems. N.I.G.T.C. Safat – Automotive Trade Intern – Kuwait 06/2011 – 08/2011
• Improved satisfaction by handling customer complaints in a professional manner.
• Inspected 10-15 vehicles per day and estimated damage repairs for insurance claims.
• Maintained inventory control, managing a list of spare parts for the division based on historical data. WREN JACOB VARGHESE ****.*.********@*****.***
o Replaced damaged parts with new parts to reduce customer costs, time, and improve outcome/satisfaction of the repair.
• Assisted the mechanical workshop on vehicle issues such as check engine lights, using diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repair methods.
PROJECTS
Cooler Production Facility Planning & Layout Project – Kalamazoo, MI 09/2016 – 12/2016
• Determined the location of a new manufacturing plant using quantitative and qualitative analysis. o Quantitative analysis included gravity, rectilinear, and single facility discrete methods.
• Developed the financial plan for the cooler startup company, including the financial analysis of costs, revenues, and future plans for the company.
Ergonomics Project – Kalamazoo, MI 01/2016 – 04/2016
• Analyzed neck flexion depending on posture while using a phone, and determined how to minimize stress within neck muscles.
• Determined muscle activities for the upper extremity by using the Electromyography by considering three different positions while using a phone, determining the best position.
• Concluded you should sit if using a phone for a long period of time and larger screen sizes reduce neck flexion and stress.
Speedway Project – Kalamazoo, MI 01/2014 – 04/2014
• Collaborated with a team of two to design a store layout proposal to enhance customer checkout rates. o Reduced significant backups in the cashier line by performing root cause analysis and 5 Whys, and by using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) approach, Pareto analysis, and sensitivity charts; decreased process time by 3.6 seconds.
• Used fishbone diagrams, process flow charts, and methods-time measurement (MTM) analysis to determine the amount of time it took for cashiers to bag items.
• Increased customer checkout rates through layout redesigns and by extracting multi activity charts and work sampling along with time studies.
CASE STUDIES
Inventory Analysis 12/2016
• Performed extensive research and computation to determine optimal order quantities (EOQ values) to minimize total inventory system costs.
• Examined the effect that variable lead time had on EOQ values and costs. Aggregate Plan 11/2016
• Determined the number of workers required for production of mix product line in manufacturing processes using aggregate planning.
o Aggregate planning identified inventories and shortages that incurred, and costs associated with it. It also helped determine when to hire and lay off workers. Forecasting 10/2016
• Forecasted Honda Motor Company’s sales for 24 months by obtaining data from the previous 5 years of sales.
o Separated data into analysis period and comparison period to understand errors in the first 36 months and used optimization tools to minimize error estimates. o Used Microsoft Excel Solver and Crystal Ball OptQuest for optimization purposes. TECHNICAL SKILLS
