School Senior Project

Myers Container, Inc - Portland, OR - 2016-01 - 2016-06

Redesigned a steel 55 gallon open-head barrel to use the most economical material available while still passing the United Nation (UN) certification tests.

A successful outcome of this project would be to pass the same tests at the same levels, but with a barrel made from thinner steel in order to reduce the cost significantly (the cost of steel is more than 60 percent of the cost of the product).

The redesigned barrel saves Myers Container $1.82 per barrel. Lean Manufacturing

Collaborated with a group of six students to organize and run a Kaizen event at a local veterinary hospital.

Improved delivery of pharmaceutical drugs using pneumatic tube for transferring items.

Developed a model to predict the sale price of a house based on 9 regressor (quantitative) variables, and 2 indicator variables.

Developed a linear regression model to characterize the relationship between the regressor variables and the response variable.

Tested the significance of the entire model, and concluded that at least one of the regressor variables contributes significantly to the model.

Facility Design

Worked in project team to redesign the layout of the Machining and Product Realization Laboratory (MPRL) at Oregon State University.

Evaluated and suggested layout alternatives for the renovation to improve space utilization, flow of operation, and reduce of congestion using CRAFT principles. Ergonomic Workstation Design
