Thesis Title: Some recent developments in theoretical high energy physics and string theory
Research Interest
I, together with my supervisor (Dr Abbas Ali), have been investigating two distinct issues. One of them is the problem of higher loop corrections to particle physics problems while the other concerns with higher superconformal symmetries. In the former case we have been using the two cut-o phase space slicing method, the subtraction method and the dipole method to compute the precision corrections in phenomenological problems in high energy physics problems. We have been busy developing the corresponding theoretical framework to develop algorithms to do these complex computations. We have been focusing on those physical processes that have not been considered by other people so far. We also have been working on similar calculations for gravity theories also, particularly ADD and Randall- Sundaram models too. These issues are very intricate and involved and belong to the forefront of eld theoretic calculations.
The other line of our investigation is related to various aspects of conformal symmetries that are useful for eld theory, string theory, condensed matter physics, phase transition and critical phenomena. Our focus in this case is on higher superconformal symmetries, particularly N=3 and N=4 cases. Our concern has been the AdS3 case of the so called AdS/CFT correspondence or the gauge-gravity duality. We have proposed that the relevant superconformal symmetry for the AdS3 S3 S3 S1 should be described using the free eld realization given by Ivanov and Krivonos and not the one given by Sevrin, Troost and van Proeyen. This suggestion sorts out all the issues that have plagued the superconformal theory associated with the above mentioned case as well as the related cases AdS3 S3 T4 and AdS3 S3 K3. The relevant superconformal symmetries in these cases are the middle and small N=4 ones respectively. We have also investigated the Kazama-Suzuki construction for the N=4 superconformal symmetries and its other aspects. Currently we are analysing the issues related to renormalization group
ows for those conformal theories that possess the N=4 superconformal symmetry. This topic is relevant for making extensive searches for theories beyond the standard model but using the conservative eld theoretical analysis including anomaly analysis. M.Sc Physics With First Division(66%)-2009
