Mini Project:

Project area: Manufacturing Technology

Project Title: Design and Fabrication of Hand Water Pump Using Crank and Lever Mechanism.

Project role: Team Leader

Description: Crank and lever mechanism is the inversion of four bar mechanism. We fabricate hand water pump by using crank and lever mechanism. Here the rotary motion is given by us and the output energy in the form of reciprocating motion is obtained at other end where we can suck the water.

Main project:

Project area: Composite Material.

Project Title: Performance and characteristics analysis of hybrid composite material of Aluminum 7075- Basalt- Silicon carbide.

Project role: Team Leader.

Description: Aluminium and it’s alloys are light in weight, more ductile, strong and long lasting having high corrosion resistance, good conductor. Despite all the qualities it has low wear resistance and low tensile strength. In our project we made Al 7075 hybrid composite with micron sized basalt powder and silicon carbide powder in order to improve mechanical properties such as hardness and tribological property such as wear resistance. Al7075-Basalt-SiC hybrid composite containing 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 percent of Basalt and Silicon Carbide powder by stir casting process. Hardness test is conducted by Brinell Hardness method. Impact test is conducted by Charpy test and wear test was conducted on pin on disc wear tester. The fabricated hybrid composite materials have better properties than Al 7075 alloy material.

In plant training:

Trained at TNSTC bus depot, Tirunelveli for 10 days in 2014.

Trained at Hydro Excel Pneumatics India Private Ltd, Tirunelveli for 10 days in 2016.

Workshop attended:

I have attended workshop on “NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING” which was conducted by YUGNA-X’15, Mechanical Engineering Association held at National Engineering College, Kovilpatti on 10th and 11th September 2015.

I have participated transport workshop on “OIL CONSERVATION” which was conducted by PETROLEUM CONSERVATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas) held at Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli on 27th February 2016.
