Senior Geophysicist, Southern Division, 2015-2016

Oversaw real-time directional navigation of horizontally drilled oil and gas wells, communicating needed changes to colleagues in office and in field. Led interpretation and integration of proprietary 3-D seismic data with existing geologic data, involving working closely with asset geologists to make decisions on prospective locations of future wells. Worked closely with reservoir engineers to evaluate company-owned acreage for divestiture. Mentored younger geologists and geologic technicians, including operations geology mentoring (geosteering, well planning) as well as field and basin-wide geologic evaluations of new and future drilling opportunities.

Geosteered ten horizontal oil wells in Midland Basin portion of Permian Basin, including wildcat horizontal well in Permian Basin.

Senior Geophysicist, High Plains Division, 2011-2015

Planned and executed large scale horizontal oil development in North Dakota, as well as mentoring multiple younger geoscientists joining division. Directly oversaw four horizontal rigs drilling extended reach laterals in Middle Bakken and Three Forks formations, both landing curves and geosteering within laterals of wells. Hired wellsite geologists for eight rigs and coordinated between field and office engineers to drill wells in appropriate location in stratigraphic column. Worked remotely on nights and weekends to ensure proper placement. Conducted field development planning.

Led diverse group of regulatory personnel, landmen, and engineers to implement new field-wide infill drilling program, leading quickly to new locations, permits, and ultimately to positive wells.

Geophysicist, Uinta Basin Division, 2008-2011

Project managed 3D seismic data acquisition for two 3D seismic surveys in northeast Utah and monitored drilling operations and field development planning in conjunction with various disciplines across division. Oversaw acquisition, processing, and interpretation of 43 & 89 square-mile 3D mixed source seismic datasets in Uintah and Grand Counties, Utah. This involved coordination of permitting with biologists, archaeologists, other oil and gas operators, State of Utah and BLM to receive permit, and then working with seismic acquisition company to acquire dataset.

Worked closely with BLM staff before, during and after projects to ensure proper environmental precautions were taken.

Worked closely with biologists with QEP and the BLM to ensure proper reclamation of drilling pads.

Monitored up to three drilling rigs in deep vertical drilling program in Uintah County, Utah.

Geophysicist, Pinedale Division, 2007-2008

Conducted active rig monitoring, seismic structural interpretation, prospect evaluation and generation, and mentoring of interns and younger geoscientists. Planned wells and monitored progress of natural gas wells in over-pressured Pinedale Anticline field in southwest Wyoming, including coordinating with wellsite operations geologists daily as well as multiple visits to field to monitor progress of operations. Completed seismic stratigraphic and structural interpretation of 3D seismic data across Pinedale Anticline to avoid possible drilling hazards and finding suitable areas for water disposal in isolated sand bodies. Presented in southwest Wyoming high schools about need for science and math education.

Worked with regulatory personnel in QEP and with the BLM to ensure proper environmental precautions were taken in the drilling of the Pinedale Anticline.

Evaluated oil and gas drilling prospects from outside parties across southwest Wyoming, as well as unleased lands in southwest Wyoming for future oil and gas development.

Planned and executed multi-rig natural gas drilling program.

Geophysicist, Legacy Division, 2005-2007

Interpreted various 3D seismic datasets in southwest Wyoming and southeast Utah, involving stratigraphic and structural interpretation integrated with existing well data to recommend short-term and long-term drilling prospects. Located over-pressured areas within stratigraphic column to help mitigate safety issues in drilling the wells.

Field work with civil engineers on water-flow measurement in conjunction with geophysical surveys

Interpreted 180 square miles of recently-merged 3D seismic data in southwest Wyoming for use in active drilling program.

Served as project manager for successful microseismic data acquisition of two hydraulic fracturing jobs in southwest Wyoming.
