Software Engineer

Worked with a group of developers in coding, testing, advising and keeping project on time.

Meet with Upper Management and Business Area about new design and changes to existing applications.

Worked in complex search routine used by customers to generate reports for their current customers or potential new customers.

In the Claim Search application re-wrote the Billing System from a paper system to a Web defined system. This re-write saved a large amount of expenses as the US-mailing practice was stopped.

The Auto Underwriting application is used by customers to do searches on a possibility of multiple fields. There are over 7 billion records stored in DB2 tables. All of these records contain sensitive Personal Identifying Information on customers which must be safely guarded.

All work was performed using a Mainframe environment with Cobol, DB2, TSO/ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ENDEVOR, SyncSort, DFSORT, ICETOOL and CICS with MQ.

Created automated procedures to receive and process customer data.

Data was received based on the transmission method used by customers. These included Secured FTP, PGP or VPN.

All this work was accomplish using the most efficient methods in order to save on all cost associated with data processing on a Mainframe.

Senior Programmer

Primary developer and analysts in the setups of new clients 401k's. This included assigning new tasks to members, reviewing their work for standards, performance and code defect and communicating with users on a daily basis to answer their questions and concerns. Performed product support functions in a MVS/DBMS organization. Successfully led, planned, organized, and administered numerous projects using project management skills, often working within very tight time constraints and on overlapping or concurrent projects. This involved the installation, testing, documentation, consultation, problem analysis and resolution of software products. The installation of these software products was accomplished with SMPE.

Instructor/Developer (1983 - 1990)

Responsible for teaching, designing and updating courses in the Corporate Education and Training Organization. Taught most of the courses offered in the MVS curriculum either on-site or on the road. This included the following: Cobol, ISPF, TSO, CMS, DB2, Focus, Ramis, SQL, JCL, IBM Utilities and VSAM. Taught a special 70 day Programming Basic Training (PBT) class to provide new hires and Reclassified employees an opportunity to join the AT&T programming staff. One of these classes was taught in Puerto Rico, both in English and Spanish.
