Caterpillar is engaged in the transformation of its technical information creation, content management and access solution. The desired future system is a seamless process supported to the highest extent possible by an integrated suite of PTC out of the box (OOTB) tools.

This project is second phase of Caterpillar Next Gen SIS project. This project involves customization of authoring system to publish service information to In-Service. To trigger In-service publishing, developed dual publish customization on the top of phase one customization. One of the new functionalities developed in this phase is the Media Dashboard Report, which helps the users to identify the outdated Media Service manuals. Miller was using Windchill 10.1 M040 and they want to upgrade their system to Windchill 10.2 M022 in order to use the enhance business functionality of SIM. This project involves Windchill 10.2 M022 SIM implementation and configuration includes Soft Types/attribute creation, Lifecycle, OIR, workflow customization and development of Custom Utility for merging the service bundle input file with XML data which is coming from ERP System.

Project-Description:

Caterpillar is the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Caterpillar has been using legacy system called GGS for managing their SLM data (Service Lifecycle Management). Caterpillar is in the process migrating all their systems to Windchill 10.1 M030 to make use of the features available in Windchill. This project involves migration of the SLM data from Legacy system to Windchill 10.1 using Windchill Bulk Migrator (WBM 2.2) and also developed the custom utility (BOM Import Tool) to create the part, BOM and Service Information by scanning the input from excel sheet.
