Objective

To practice as an FNP in an environment fostering growth and learning to new nurse practitioner.

Experience

AeroCare d.b.a. Med-Trans July, 2007-present

Registered nurse in the pre hospital setting on helicopter and fixed wing aircraft, duties include direct patient care of critically ill or injured, includes practicing within protocols and requires critical decision making. Advanced skills include control of airway utilizing different techniques such as direct laryngoscopy, video laryngoscopy, and backup temporary airways, as well as surgical and needle cricothyrotomy. Other advanced procedures include chest tube insertion and management, needle chest decompression, and pericardiocentesis.

I served as the QA/QI committee chair from 2008- 20015 and was responsible for developing and implementing the current QA/QI process. Along with this responsibility I participated in and went through two CAMTS accreditation site surveys with commendations on the current process.

Skills

My current job requires a high level of autonomy, function well in stressful environments, informal leadership, and Situational awareness. I built the current QA/QI process and have been through two CAMTS site surveys with flying colors. I served as the QA/QI committee chair for 7 years. I am proficient in advanced skills such as intubation, and chest tube placement among others. I am proficient in communication both written and verbal. Marketing and public relation skills are vital to what we do.

Presentations

I was involved in community outreach and developed a one-hour CE on pelvic stabilization in the acutely injured trauma patient that was delivered to an outlying EMS system.

With faculty direction I developed a poster presentation on management of hypothyroidism that was presented at Covenant Medical Center research symposium.

With faculty direction I participated in a group that developed a literature review poster presentation on monitoring endotracheal cuff pressure.
