US Citizen

Design Engineer

Ten years of oil and gas experience in designing electrical and mechanical panels and drawings using AutoCAD. Offered designs and solutions that improved quality and reduced cost. Collaborated with team members in achieving goals. U.S. citizen. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

AutoCAD Solidworks Microstation Draftsight

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Nabors Industries, Houston, TX 01/2016 to 01/2017

Design Engineer

Selected as the design engineer in the R&D department for the iRacker: (an autonomous pipe handling system), reporting to the director of the department. Responsible for electrical components and mechanical parts: drawing, bill of materials, cables, sizing and making sure the specification of the components meet regulatory requirements. Collaborated with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical and control) and worked as liaison between technicians and engineers.

Designed the electrical and control panel using AutoCAD, reduced the footprint by optimizing the placement of modules and components in the junction boxes and panels that resulted in significant reduction in assembly time.

Calculated load for electrical components, assisted electrical team to select modules, power supplies and wirings for efficient power management.

Created bill of materials for electrical components and mechanical parts.

Studied the specification of the mechanical parts, enclosures, hoses and fittings to assure conformity with standards and safety regulations

Selected the electrical modules such as terminal blocks, power supply, analog and digital electrical modules to assemble in junction boxes.

Created the electrical modules using Solidworks.

Transocean Deepwater Drilling, Houston, TX 03/2006-11/2015

Designer

Involved in design, modification and upgrade of GA’s jack-up and drill ships. Collaborated with subsea and mechanical engineers to determine the BOP and mechanical layout of equipment. Solved problems with each group which led to reduced material cost and saved time. Worked with Fire and Safety Plan drawing to ensure compliance with ABS and DNV rules.

Assisted the Subsea Engineer Group to develop the design drawings and specifications of subsea

systems, production equipment (upper and lower shear ram, wellhead, and flex joint riser adapter),

controls systems and flowlines diagram using AutoCAD, enabling major clients (Chevron, BP, etc) to continue using current equipment rather than buying new equipment.

Designed and layout process flow diagrams (PFDs), process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and the others depict functional relationships of components, assemblies and systems. Provided an estimate of the complexity of products and helped the Subsea Engineer group achieve the goal.

Modified n updated designs in Autocad to correct operating deficiencies or to increased fabrication efficiency.

Identified incorrect measurements of existing mechanical drawing using Autocad. Avoided expenses of reworking in the manufacturing process and delays.

Designed and assembled telescopic joint for offshore drilling using AutoCAD, allowing drilling completion activity to be accomplished without pulling the stack.

Identified incorrect drawing of fresh water piping plan. Corrected placement or filter equipment in the drawing, reduced material cost and saved time.

Designed and sketch the riser clip assembly, riser pipe, and bearing using Solidworks.

Modified and updated the electrical diagram drawings such as Single line, Emergency Switchboard,

480V Emergency for Deepwater Asgard, as a clients of Chevron.

Max Engineering, LLC, Houston, TX 09/2003-03/2006

Architectural and Engineering Designer

Created new drawings for telecommunication towers using AutoCAD. Participated in the design of structural and electrical layout drawings as well as tower equipment.

Designed the overall site-walk for telecommunication towers using AutoCAD, enabling the major clients to identify the location of the site.

Created the structural and electrical detail drawings for monopole, lattice, guyed, roof top and water tank, leading to securing contracts from major clients. Detailed quadpole and comcast antenna in radio frequency sheet, equipment and tower elevation, and identified the data and equipment needed to layout the correct location and improve frequency.

Global Enercom Management, Inc., Houston, TX 04/2000-09/2002

CAD Designer

Designed with telecommunication tower for elevations, structural and electrical layout drawings using AutoCAD. Collected radio frequency data sheet to design the antenna location in telecommunication tower.

Created site-walk sketch and maps using AutoCAD, enabling clients to identify location of longitude and latitude.

Developed method of inserting X-reference files in paper space and modified the drawings in model space. Reduced time needed by 40-50% by importing drawings in AutoCAD.

Modified and designed structural drawings details and sections for telecommunication towers. Assisted clients in reducing the material cost and avoiding expense.

Planned the electrical grounding ring in equipment shelter which prevented electrical parts damage and saved material cost to repair.

Columbia Gulf Transmission, Houston, TX 02/1998-03/2000

Contract Piping Drafter

Designed and modified piping & instrumentation drawings using AutoCAD. Maintained and upgraded Alignment sheets of pipeline system. Assisted engineers to layout the piping and structural drawings for arrangement of pipeline system.

Collaborated with engineers to modify existing pipeline drawings, lowering operating expense and

improving efficiency.

Created excel spreadsheet for the alignment sheets of a pipeline system which helped the engineers maintain the pipe size and save the cost for pipe repair.

Modified piping instrumentation diagram and pipeline construction drawing using AutoCAD, enabling the engineers to maintain the complexity of products and reduce the material costs.

Time Warner Cable, Houston, TX 10/1997-01/1998

Contract Cable Drafter

Drafted Fiber Optic cable and Radio Frequency trunks using AutoCAD, digitized and drafted plants, permits, and trunk schematics, and modified, enhanced, and combined different types of drawings.
