Environmental Engineer, (40 hrs/wk)

Serve as program manager for the Environmental Quality Assurance Surveillance Program (QASP) on a large aviation maintenance contractor. Performs quality assurance evaluations, inspections and testing for the purpose of identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards resulting from mission-specific functions (e.g. flight training and field-level aircraft maintenance) that affect either the environment or the health of the population.

Monitor contractor procedures, providing productive feedback for the contractor to utilize for their required continual improvement program.

Trained (awarded a certificate of completion) by the Aviation Center Logistics Command in performance of quality assurance evaluations in regard to contract oversight for compliance with all applicable regulations and contract aviation maintenance contract.

Coordinate and conduct the identification, sampling, testing, tracking, recording and removal of hazardous waste materials in conformance with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

Responsible for conducting field investigations, including oversight of source removal activities, groundwater sampling, data analysis, and writing groundwater sampling event reports for the Calhoun County (Alabama) Highway Department Ohatchee Road Barn Underground Storage Site in Ohatchee, Alabama.

Developed the proposal for the assessment monitoring, assisting with the development of the budget for the project, serving as a client contact, and compiling of data and report text for Cherokee County (Alabama) Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in Leesburg, Alabama.

Responsible for performing groundwater sampling activities, conducting Alabama Risk-Based Correction Action (ARBCA) Tier 1 and Tier 2 calculations, and compiling of data and reports (Secondary Investigation, ARBCA Tier 1 and Tier 2 Risk Assessment Report, and Groundwater Monitoring) for Lakeview Walgreens Redevelopment on Clairmont Avenue in Birmingham, Alabama.

Supported Operation Range Assessment Program (ORAP) military facilities in Alabama and Georgia via aiding with site reconnaissance, soil sampling, and water sampling

Assisted in Emergency Response for black liquor release in Pearl River of Bogalusa, LA. Job included locating and collecting fish carcasses, developing documentation, barometric surveying, and wastewater sampling at Temple Inland Facility.

Supported the Stormwater MS4 Programs for the Cities of Birmingham and Bessemer, AL. Assisted with the planning and scheduling of the field activities needed for both cities. Activities included water sampling, outfall reconnaissance, and evaluation of potential illicit discharges.

Provided support for underground storage tank sampling. Helped with the installation of four monitoring wells. Assisted with both soil and water sampling of the wells.

Performed bi-weekly water monitoring activities at Inland Lake. Retrieved, calibrated, and downloaded data from four Troll 9500’s (water monitoring sondes) of four different sampling locations at Inland Lake in Oneonta, Alabama. Wrote SOP’s for water monitoring activities.

Performed Phase I environmental assessments and environmental diligence on foreclosed properties. Was responsible for properties in Hall, Jackson, Madison, Newton, Greene, and Oconee Counties in Georgia.

Assisted in the community outreach effort in Anniston Project. Solicited residents for lead sampling and remediation efforts. Outreach efforts included letter preparation, database documentation, site visitation, and documentation management.

Helped with setup of mobilization to the disaster areas as a member of the disaster relief team, and training local employees. Areas for relief efforts include Birmingham, AL, West Palm Beach, FL, Metairie, LA, and Joplin, MO. Ensured the personnel and work environment was safe.

Assisted with the preparation and site reconnaissance of a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for five parcel tracts to be purchased by the City of Elba. Also, conducted oversight and documentation for the installation of four groundwater monitoring wells as part of a Phase II ESA for the City of Elba.

Supported Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) with water sampling for nutrient analyses, and periphyton and physical steam characteristics to develop nutrient criteria for the state. Job included preparation/calibration of surface water sondes and periphytometers.

Prepared DAAMS tubes for collecting air samples for chemical agent air monitoring activities.
