Calatlantic Homes (Previously Standard Pacific Homes), Irvine, California
Senior Network Architecture, Systems Engineer (Nov 2005 – Jan 2017)
Technical Scope: Data Center Cisco Nexus 7706 & 5000, Cisco UCS 6248 FI and UCS B series, Catalyst switches 6500, 4500, 3800, 3700, Routers ISR 4000, 3900, 2900, MPLS BGP, EIGRP protocol, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM Call Manager), Cisco Unity Connection, Voice gateway H.323 and mgcp, Network Security Manager Cyber DNA, CWS (Cisco Cloud Web Security), ASA firewall, VPN, IWAN, VMWare, Storage and Riverbed WAN optimization.
Senior Network Architecture who created and implemented Cisco routers with dual MPLS and BGP private AS number for use across Sprint and Level 3 providers for enhanced SLA fault tolerance and load sharing MPLS traffic. Saved the enterprise $200K by masterfully monitoring and configuring networks. Yielded a 300% increase of network performance by implementing the Riverbed WAN optimization across 35 divisions the implementation significantly increased productivity and satisfaction. Migrated data center and division networks from obsolete technology to 100 GB backbone networks.
Key Achievements:
Responsible for design, and migration DATA CENTER from Catalyst 6509, two HP Blade enclosures, Brocade fiber switches, EMC storage, VMWare 200 servers, IBM AS 400, Cisco CUCM Call Manger, Unity connection to Cisco Nexus 7706, UCS Nexus 6428 FI, UCS B series, and Nimble storages with zero down time migration.
Responsible for the implementation of several technologies used to increase efficiency, fault tolerance and SLA implementation and upgrade all divisions to 10 Mbps MPLS, 100 Mbps internet, IP SLA, ASA firewall and Riverbed WAN optimization; Implementation VPN tunnel fail over back to Data Center from divisions.
Upgraded and implemented CUCM Call Manager, Cisco Unity Connection VMware servers, include all remote sites to Cisco VoIP telephony infrastructure, including routers, switches and fault tolerant SRST (Survivable Remote site Telephony).
Implemented security manger system Cisco ACS, Cyber DNS, CWS (Cisco Cloud Web Security), Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and harden Cisco router to detect malicious network traffic and DDOS security threats.
Responsible for merging, consolidating and implementing DATA CENTER and multiple remove divisions between Standard Pacific Homes and Ryland networks.
Lending Tree, Irvine, California
Senior Network Engineer (Jun. 2002 – Nov. 2005)
Technical Scope: Servers, Dual PIX Firewall, VPN Concentrator, Cisco routers/switches. TACACS+, Radius, CSACS, SQL, Web, DNS/DHCP, VERITAS, SMTP, DMZ, WAN routers
Provided Level II network/administrative support for 200+ programmer and users across critical development applications. Utilized in-depth knowledge to improve web server performance and faulty tolerance with multiple PIX firewalls, VPN concentrators and the BGP protocol for WAN routers. Facilitated improved disaster recovery by consolidating schema and domain naming to a single domain controller with infrastructure on another domain controller. Spearheaded the Microsoft 2003 migration project by conducting tests of all application/webservers. Prevented intrusion by performing system hardening; led the implementation of security capabilities on all Cisco routers and PIX firewall.
Key Achievements:
Replaced numerous ineffective systems, including 200 new servers, dual PIX firewall, VPN concentrator and 50 Cisco router/switches through the skillful design and deployment of a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure.
Installed multiple server technologies on an enterprise-wide basis, including SQL, Web, print/file, VERITAS backup, and SMTP at DMZ for virus/spam protection.
Designed, configured and managed core router/switch infrastructure to provide fault tolerance across all network components and servers.
