As lead linguist and cultural advisor for the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, provided support critical to the accomplishment of its mission: To bring governance, security and development to Afghanistan’s fifth largest province. Conducted daily missions into hostile areas in order to distribute vital medications and humanitarian assistance to target communities and conduct quality assurance inspections of U.S. Government funded construction projects. Provided cultural insight and advice to PRT and military command staff throughout Ghazni Province. Assisted with mediation and mitigation of conflicts between Afghan and Coalition Forces. Worked as interpreter for sensitive U.S. and Afghan national political and security issues of concern to officials and representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense and Department of State, including liaison meetings with Afghan National Security Forces officials, religious and tribal leaders and national and provincial government officials. During the Korean hostage taking in Ghazni Province, I interpreted for Korean hostage negotiation team and US military officers. Served as linguist for all PRT activities benefiting women.
