A private equity company owned by HIG, Caraustar is one of the nation’s largest integrated manufacturers of 100% recycled paperboard and converted paperboard products.
Group Controller, Consumer Packaging Group
Responsible for the general ledger, balance sheet, month end closing and financial reporting for the entire Consumer Packaging Group,
which consists of eight manufacturing locations, a digital imaging center and the group HQ, generating $225M in annual revenues.
Administered the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual responsibilities for the group, ensuring all Caraustar accounting policies and financial control procedures were met.
Reduced the closing cycle by 25% by streamlining and automating the process.
Created financial modeling to analyze and calculate cost savings for potential capital projects. $3 - $5M in annual spend.
Responsible for the preparation and consolidation of the group’s annual budget, working with the Group VPs, Sales Managers and Area GM’s in identifying key strategic issues.
Carried out monthly AR calls with Credit Manager, Sales Managers and Shared Services to identify any potential credit risks or slow pays and develop a path forward to improve the payment cycle and minimize potential for bad debt.
Re-wrote the accounting policies and procedures to incorporate the changes stemming from the ERP conversion to JD Edwards.
Developed and generated a monthly reporting package for the Group VP and Manufacturing VP for their use during the monthly Senior Leadership P&L review meeting with the CEO and CFO.
Responsible for implementing and tracking the hourly and salary bonus programs for the group.
