Undergraduate Research on Micropaleontology

- One Year of original research for Dr. Leah LeVay at IODP (Integrated Ocean Discovery Program).

- Prepared necessary materials and made smear slides from core samples.

- Maintained a clean and organized space.

- Worked independently and was responsible for setting daily laboratory tasks and meeting deadlines.

- Used 1000X Axioskope Microscope and calculated the relative abundance of calcareous Nannofossils.

- Used Software programs such as PowerPoint, and Excel to graph and organize the research data

- On behalf of Texas A&M University and IODP presented the research on micropaleontology at GGGSC Geology & Geophysics Student Research Symposium.

Undergraduate Research on Fluid-assisted mass movement on Mars.

- Four months of research with Dr. David Sparks.

- Used computer modeling to simulate grain flow and analyze the role of fluid in mass movement on the surface of Mars.

- Found other academic reports/studies with related landslide movements for comparisons.

- Knowledge of UNIX and FORTRAN software as needed to run the simulation model for grain fall.

-Implemented GranFrix fluid/grain model and interpreted results.

-Along with other research students helped the professor run the simulation program so he could meet other responsibilities as a professor.

- Helped students in using assistive technology software such as screen readers, screen magnification, scanners, printers, and adaptive keyboards.
