RE: Junior Business Analyst
As a 4th year Marketing and Supply Chain management student at the University of Lethbridge, I know my diverse skills, unique life experiences, knowledge and drive will make me an asset to the city of Calgary team. By being blessed enough to have the opportunity to play at an elite level of ice hockey my whole life combined with moving away from home to live on my own at 16 years of age has provided me valuable life skills and tools such as discipline, time management, priority setting and the ability to take care of myself that sets me apart from others. Continuing with that into becoming a student athlete I learned very quickly how much effort goes into getting the results I wanted both academically and on the ice. Balancing my hockey schedule with weekly travel that resulted in missing school and 5 classes was no easy feat. The experience has made me a stronger individual in that I feel am able to take on any type of challenge and succeed with hard work. Through my most recent summer internship at SCP Distributors in Kelowna BC, I learned about the supply and distribution business and gained intangible assets in the process like dealing with vendors and coordinating product negotiations while also working closely with the operations and sales managers to learn the finer details of working in a supply chain environment. My positon required a high level of technicality and precision in relation to placing orders from manufacturers and delivering proper quantity of products to our clients.
With most of my immediate family all being heavily involved in the oil/gas and energy sector I have grown to want to pursue that career path as well. I may not have the most experience in this field but I am willing to dedicate myself to learn as much as I can to be the best employee I can if granted this opportunity. I am confident that with my diverse skill set I would be a compliment not only towards this position but to the city of Calgary as a whole. I thank you for your consideration and look forward to discussing the position further.
Sincerely
Mike Forsyth

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Analytical – Proficient in various computer systems such as Prelude and ADS from my experience obtained at SCP Distributors. Also highly competent with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Leadership/Relationship – Team player; throughout my career as a hockey player I was chosen as team captain by my peers and coaching staff for every team growing up until my Junior ranks. I was then named team captain in my final year of junior hockey for the Grand Prairie Storm as a credit to my experience, strong personality and dependability on and off the ice. Through attending university, I have gained experience in working with team members in various classes and I am always attempting to establish myself as a leader.
Strong Work Ethic – Demonstrated through playing 8 years of high level hockey in various leagues such as the Alberta Junior Hockey League (2 years), Western Hockey League (3 years) and the Canadian Interuniversity Sport League (3 years), I was able to maintain status as a student athlete while attending university and high school.
