•Recruited to fill competency gaps. Developed an engineering team of 25 professionals for the design and development of high efficiency, high shock and vibration resilient ac induction motors, VFD controllers, drives, relays and switchgear for various Navy applications, majority for the CVN-78 aircraft carrier, including state of the art motor controllers. All products were tested and received NAVSEA qualification.

•Diversified and applied the high durability motor competency to a new line of 2000hp motors for top-drive, draw-work and mud-pump applications for on/off shore Oil & Gas drilling industry. Obtained ATEX, CSA and ABS certifications.

•Won a bid and secured a major contract from WEC, for the development of a motor-generator set for emergency placement of nuclear fuel rods for the AP1000 plant.

•Provided technical leadership in fast paced start-up environment, including VC relationships to raise capital; rapidly scaled up the processes and grew the company from a $6M prototyping job-shop to a manufacturing organization with increased revenue of $21M.

•Responsible from all hardware and software roadmap, managed system architecture for high voltage switching controls engine management, OBD, and safety algorithms modeled on Siemens LMS for articulated busses and commercial heavy duty vehicles.

•Evaluated battery and ultra-cap technologies suitable for Energy Storage Systems for hybrid integration and developed modular energy packs for heavy duty vehicle applications. Selected suppliers and validated components like the drive motor and the generator for 400kVA hybrid applications.

•Developed an innovative environment that optimized the capability of the start-up. Advised legal counsel and increased start-up’s IP assets, administered its patents, worked together with regulatory agencies and CARB, obtaining emission approvals and certifications.

•Developed product road map and product life cycle plan. Rationalized product portfolio. Directed modularization effort of assemblies and the development of plug-and-play components; software and hardware aligned to the latest elevator code, reducing order processing and installation time from 11 to 8 weeks.

•Introduced Lean Manufacturing methodology and pull system. Streamlined product development process, eliminated process redundancies. Managed continuous improvement activity, reduced $12M cost from major product line. Travelled to China, selected and qualified suppliers for elevator motors and various other components with $4.8M savings annually.

•Promoted and given the responsibility of managing the engineering group and leading the business development activity of a Siemens manufacturing plant. Negotiated and resolved a major warranty issue, (potentially $4M), without any financial impact.

•Directed the redesign of the motor and after addressing the quality issues, negotiated long term pricing agreement with Tier-1 customers, increased sales by 8% and achieved capacity sales in a declining automotive motor commodity market.

Siemens Automotive, Newport News, VA Dec 1999 - Jun2004

•Directed the development of a new manufacturing process which achieved 29% cost reduction. Managed $32M capital investment project during in a business turn-around for the organization which won the 2005 PACE Award. Twice the recipient of Siemens top+ award nomination. Selected to Siemens S3 group and trained in operations management.

•Technical lead and project manager for the development of the High Pressure Direct Injection system for gasoline engines. Signed Renault as first customer on their Megane platform. Responsible from overall project management of budgeting, multinational organization management, scheduling, PPAP and production launch in Pisa, Italy.

•Led a team in the development of two new, low cost, contactless sensors for the high volume automotive OEM and industrial applications was given the P&L responsibility for the new product lines. In two years built the business to $2.5M rotary sensors product line. Led teams in APQP and PPAP training.

•Involved in the merger and consolidation of Lucas and Varity Corporations. Identified technologies that have future and products that have synergies to be brought into the new organization. Managed downsizing and consolidation of 4 Lucas Companies, including own, and relocation of them to a green field facility in Hampton, VA. Responsible from $8M portion of the of total consolidation budget of $32M, managed the start-up of operation in the new plant including final design of the buildings. (HQ, Manufacturing and R&D Facility).

•Developed numerous specialized aerospace sensor and control systems for the high-end defense programs, (such as Trident missile), with sales of approximately $5.5M for customers like Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop, Martin Marietta, and the US Navy.
