Serves as a Logistics Engineer responsible for planning and implementation of logistics activities to assure the supportability and maintainability considerations are infused for Ground Systems Development and Operations (GSDO) Program. Acts as a primary interface to Programs/Projects as launch site logistics requirements are defined. The work involves developing or performing logistics management functions that involve planning, coordinating, or evaluating the actions required to support aerospace flight and ground operations. The work may include identifying specific requirements for budget, workforce, material, facilities, contracts and technical services needed to support aerospace programs and correlating those requirements with program/project plans. Duties may also include monitoring contractors engaged in this work.

(60%) - Applies specialized technical knowledge of professional logistics and engineering concepts, methods, and procedures to analyze and define the requirements of Projects/Programs in various stages of development at KSC or other Centers. Provides extensive coordination with other projects and programs as well as contractors integrating requirements, concepts, concurrent standards, guides, and precedents. Participates in the development of requirements with customers, analyzes requirements and design criteria, develops support concepts, Integrated Logistics Assessments (ILA), operational concepts, cost and budget estimates and other logistics assessments as required. Develops all logistics planning required to support Project/Program development and into operations. Supports/participates in design and milestone reviews and all relevant boards and panels. Assures validation of requirements, and evaluates schedules and the feasibility of project accomplishment. Supports and integrates with multiple Projects, Programs, Customers and other KSC organizations ensuring capabilities are commensurate with budget and requirements.
(25%) - Reviews, advises on, and conducts complex analysis and development studies in support of major organization programs, including analysis of novel, unprecedented, or controversial problems. Plans and conducts experimental studies involving several engineering disciplines that result in new design guidelines, and have a profound effect on program or mission capability and operating procedures. Documents and report study results to management and contractors in areas such as life science or measurement and instrumentation systems. Performs discipline-specific analysis trade studies for nominal and contingency operations planning. This includes analyses required for computer simulations and modifications to those simulations. Serves as an information resource to management and researches within the laboratory or on related or similar projects. Prepares policy development, requirements analysis and definition, technical evaluations, and makes recommendations to management within the functional an/or technical area of expertise. Provides briefings as required to Directorate as well as Center and Agency management.
(15%) - Consults with management and planning personnel in preparing requirements and criteria for complex or high value projects for construction or modification of facilities, systems, equipment, or hardware. Provides guidance and technical advice to lower-grade employees and specialists within the organization in the performance of related assignments and is available to those employees for consultation on assigned projects in areas such as acquisition logistics, engineering and project development. Resolves technical difficulties that can be overcome by changes in approach, criteria, operations, or requirements.
