Held daily safety tool box meetings highlighting reported or observed safety violations to encourage employees to work safely; recognized commendable safety performances by employees. Assigned workers their daily tasks emphasizing time allotted for each operation, answering any questions and ensuring they understood the day’s goals. Communicated with QC job schedulers, project managers, customers and other departments to provide job status or answer their questions. Provided training to employees on new work procedures or tools or located individuals to provide as needed training. Assisted in tearing down repair valves brought in for refurbishing and reassembling. Turnaround jobs required regular communication with the customer or Quality Control personnel. Several different types of steel mill and refinery valves were worked on including two lever, three lever, hot blast, bleeder, flu gas, wedge within wedge and plug valves. Weld shop experience included fitting, removing internals that would come in for refurbishing or to be replaced with gouging and grinding as needed. Inspected welds visually or using dye penetrant. When Quality Control personnel were not available, inspected all jobs prior to proceeding with the next step or actual shipping. Machine shop experience included assisting with setups and inspecting completing parts in the absence of Quality Control personnel. Supervised night-shift weld, machine, and assembly departments consisting of 17 people. Ensured that employees were working safely and wearing proper PPE, procedures were being followed and critical jobs were being worked on. Assigned people, equipment and tasks as needed to meet work goals. Provided training to new hires.

Inspected parts prior to welding, worked with the fitters, and communicated with outside customers as needed. Ensured that employees under my direct supervision were following procedures and working safely. Trained new hires on how to read and interpret various weld procedures. Worked on several types of valves including slide, flu gas, and chapman. Disassembled valves that came in for refurbishing gouge and removed the internal lining repair areas that were eroded or cracked. If the parts were chrome, parts would be placed in the oven for P.W.H.T. If the valve was new, would assist with hydro and setup for hot-stroke. Overlaid disks for internal parts, guides, and seats if needed with Stellite #1 or

#6, depending on customer requirements. Inspected the hardness of the overlay after grinding by machine shop. Developed and implemented overlay procedures consisting of Stellite 1 and Stellite 6. Supervised first and second shift personnel consisting of 35 people per shift. Ensured that people worked safely, critical jobs to be shipped for the current month were worked on and trained new hires. Verified that all material was ordered and delivered for jobs being worked on. Performed inspections on all incoming repair jobs and documented repair work needed. Followed up on turn-around jobs from start to finish, making certain that the job was at the correct stage according to schedule and communicating with the customer job status.
