POSITION Construction Project Manager
Current Salary $109k
Working in the construction industry for over 30 years, I started framing new and remodeling custom homes then moving into commercial construction as a superintendent and have now been a project manager for the past 13 years.
What I enjoy most about being a PM, is getting a new set of drawings and diving into them to understand what we’re building, identifying what trades are involved and most importantly how’s the budget. Starting a project from design to building final is an achievement. Over the years, I’ve learned I am one of a team. When I was framing, it took more than one person to lift a wall, as it is being a PM, you have clients, design teams, subcontractors, superintendent, building officials, your own office and many others you need to coordinate and efficiently communicate with throughout the project.
I consider myself to be a team oriented manager and a good communicator. Dedicated to getting the project completed on time, with a satisfied client and on budget. The skills I’ve learned over the years as coming up from the field include being organized and able to multitask, time management and treating everyone fairly and keeping my integrity.
I have the experience to read and interpret the drawings and specifications, put a budget together, work with subcontractors to finalize the budget, issue SOW letters for contracts, maintain all costs, meet with upper management monthly to review project(s) budget. Basically, I can start the project and oversee it until it’s closed out. I won’t claim to know everything however, I learn quickly and understand construction and can get it done.
Sincerely,
Donald A. Hay, Jr.
