Senior Network Engineer / Lead

As the Senior Network Engineer Lead I am responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and design for Wirb Copernicus Group’s network infrastructure. My responsibilities include all Routing, Firewall, WAN, LAN, operations. I manage all Cisco virtual installations including Cisco UCS in multiple data centers across the US. In total WCG has 12 site locations. All documentation activities are also my responsibility.

Currently I am the senior member of the network team responsible for forty-two remote locations including our shared data center and administration campus. Current deployments include new client web filtering deployment, content filtering and data management product. Also currently deploying additional Cisco UCS chassis for pending upgrade of our Cisco VOIP deployment including Cisco Call Manager and Cisco Call Center Manager. Along with my engineering duties I am our Network Engineering Team Lead as well as a member of our Senior Technology Leadership Team.

SEATTLE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL – November 2010 to April 2011

Senior Network Engineer

As a Senior Network Engineer I am responsible for all aspects of network design and operation for Seattle Children’s Hospital. Currently I am the senior member of the network team responsible for the main hospital and fourteen remote locations including our shared data center and research campus. Current deployments include full scope Wireless re-design, WAN redesign, Core and Edge redesign and replacement activities. In conjunction with our Hope Tower build I am the Lead Network Architect for this project. The project includes an eight floor bed tower with adjacent Emergency Care facility.

Network Engineer II

As network engineer I am responsible for daily operation, troubleshooting and planning of the Providence Data Network. I am stationed in Renton, WA but have responsibility to the Southwest Washington Service Area and the Northwest Service Area. Job requirements include router and switch management. Wide Area Network management and remote connectivity considerations. I am the Washington Region Subject Matter Expert for our Cisco Wireless infrastructure. I have design, deployment and operational responsibilities for all locations in Washington State and California where I have been redesigning and implementing that regions Cisco Wireless infrastructure. I have design and operational responsibilities for the new Providence Sabey Datacenter in Tukwila, WA. This is a 7/24 fault tolerant datacenter which houses all Providence Washington Tier One applications and servers.

Technical Project Manager

As Technical Project Manager I was responsible for the Emerging Business Products testing and Integration labs. I was tasked with configuration and management of all server and network systems. I was also responsible for policy and documentation maintenance for the products supported in the labs. I was responsible for release management of our team’s products to the MSN production network environment.

Systems Engineer

As Systems Engineer I was responsible for the day to day health and management of over three thousand Windows 2003 servers across the United States, various SAN devices and one local Network Appliance device. These tasks include the building of new servers, troubleshooting of user access issues, print queue management and application maintenance and troubleshooting where appropriate on Windows 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows NT Server Platforms. All of these systems are integral to the design and production systems at Honeywell Aerospace.

Regional Technology Manager

As the Regional Technology manager for Region 71 North I was responsible for the overall technology infrastructure and operation of ninety-eight company owned locations used for income tax preparation. Tasks include all aspects of desktop management and support. I am responsible for all Windows Server builds and operation. Included as responsibilities are LAN/WAN installations and operation, User account management and Windows management utilities such as SMS. I was responsible for the design and deployment of our regional call support center serving four hundred retail locations in five states. My responsibilities also included recruitment and training for all IT staff required to construct, operate, support and break down these locations.

Stafford Act Employee

As a Stafford Act Employee for Region Ten I have been involved with the setup and operation of Disaster Field Offices in Region Ten associated with DR1499. This work involved the establishment of wired network facilities at multiple sites in Washington State. Also I provided on-going support for the staff supporting DR1499. This included desktop support, application support, server and network support. I am currently deployed to the Region Ten Regional Command Center. My mission is to evaluate, document and make modifications to the computing plant here at the FRC.

Information Technology Associate

As a member of the ITA team we are responsible for the Desktop operating systems, Application functionality of the Bellevue Campus. Currently we service over three Thousand end users and Retail stores spanning five counties. Currently as a member of this team I have participated in a major migration from an NT 4.0 Domain to Windows 2000 Active Directory Tree/Forest configuration. I was also primary focus in the office move of over six hundred members of our Engineering group to new offices in our corporate campus.

Senior Network Engineer/Lead

As Senior Network Engineer/Lead I was the senior member of our Network Services Team. I was responsible for day to day operations of all Network and Telecommunications facilities. I also direct the design, development and management of a 125+ node wide area network spanning four campus sites west of the Mississippi River. This network is the infrastructure for Cellular One, cellular communications. Including sales offices, regional switch offices and multiple corporate office locations. I have been responsible for the design, redesign, performance management, network fault analysis, capacity planning and implementation of this network including WAN, LAN, WIFI, WAN over the Internet or VPN and layer 3 routing switches including OSPF design implementation.

Sr. Network Engineer

As a Senior Network Engineer I was responsible for the Design, development and 24 hour management of multiple IP based Medical Intranets and Extranets. This includes the design and implementation of an Internet Service Provision service for the medical industry. I developed and implemented Washington States only intranet based eligibility system for Medicare/Medicaid patients. The network extends to Hospitals, Physician practices, Physician Organizations and Health Plans. This is a mission critical medical network that is in use twenty-four hours a day.

PHOTODISC, INC. April, 1997 – January, 1998

Information Systems Manager

As Information Systems Manager I was responsible for the Global Information Systems operations of the company. PhotoDisc, Inc. has offices in Australia, Germany, France, London, Sydney, New York and Seattle. My responsibilities included management of a team of six help desk and systems administrators. The redesign and management of over 250 network workstations and servers connected via WAN in these locations. I managed the technology and budget aspects of these sites. PhotoDisc also staffs a call center of 100 product representatives. My team was responsible for the design and management of the Telephone, ACD and call monitoring hardware and software for this call center.

Under my direction the Information Systems Department of PhotoDisc, Inc. achieved a 99% satisfaction rating from feedback included with the request system which I designed and implemented. The technology portion of PhotoDisc. Inc. is generally credited with the increase in service quality and the Digital Image industries’ perception that PhotoDisc, Inc. is the technology leader in this industry.

PRIMUS COMMUNICATIONS, INC. January, 1996 – April, 1997

Information Services Manager

My position at Primus Communications consisted of designing and managing over forty diverse development servers. I was responsible for seven by twenty-four support for the engineering group and corporate user base. I have developed a corporate request management system utilizing the corporate Intranet as the interface medium with sophisticated management tools. I was responsible for the design of the corporate LAN and design and implementation of the Companies on-line network operation.

WORLDS INCORPORATED, Seattle, Washington November, 1994 – January, 1996

Director, Network Operations

Designed, Implemented, Managed the high speed, ATM Broadband network. The network consisted of multiple Ds3 connections to both private and public networks(Internet). Designed, Implemented, Managed an International on-line Internet based Multi-user, 3D Virtual Reality Operations facility. I also Designed, Implemented, and Managed the Starbright Children’s Pediatric Network. The Starbright Network, built for the Starbright Foundation chaired by Stephen Spielberg, is currently on-line in 30 major children’s hospitals across the US. My management responsibilities included operational management of the corporate network infrastructure and four corporate office locations. My responsibilities included development of overall network design and privately deployed networks. The Starbright Pediatric Network was the 1996 winner of the “Information Infrastructure Award”, awarded for the best use of “Infrastructure Technology”. The award was sponsored by the President’s Panel on Infrastructure Development.
