•Conducted primary research at GLF was critical and as a result three reports were created for the owners.

Retail Trader

Self-Employed, Surrey, BC July 2012- Present

•Proficient in equity analysis of securities. Experienced using the following equity valuation models: Multi-Stage Dividend Discount Model, Capital Asset Pricing Model, Present-Value Models, and others. Further qualitative analysis of individual companies done using annual reports of the underlying company and it’s competitors, industry trade publications, commercial classification systems, Porter’s 5 Competitive Forces, and SWOT.

•Proficient in fixed income analysis, experience using the following methods: yields and values of fixed-income securities, pricing bonds with Yield-to-Maturity calculations, Flat Price and Full Price calculations, Yield Measures for Floating-Rate-Notes and Money Market Instruments, Zero Volatility Spreads, Yield and Curve Durations and others.

•Building program, statistical indicators and tools which provide useful information. Have created multiple indicators that I programmed into a derivatives trading platform to aid in volatility trading by providing real time calculations. The calculations include Implied Volatility & Historic Volatility percentiles/ranks, standard deviation spike counts, and daily standard deviation indicators, along with other useful statistical indicators.

•Backtesting equities, commodities and futures to find statistically significant relationships like large tail risk and underpriced options. I focus on finding odd statistical relationships between the real distribution of returns compared to a theoretical normal distribution and then exploiting improper assignment of probabilities between current option prices and what prices should be assigned based on what has taken place historically.

•Developing portfolio management strategies which include measuring risk by trading with R-multiples, understanding expectancy, using ‘Core Equity’ and ‘Total Equity’ methods as a guide to position sizing, determining an optimal bet size and following portfolio heat rules.

•Developed volatility arbitrage and statistical arbitrage tactics, including an announcement driven strategy. I created a quantitative volatility arbitrage strategy which involves trading options leading up to the announcement, through the announcement, along with hedging in order to lock in profits if you are unable to close the trade. The research relies upon a database I created consisting of 275 American equities which have both liquid options along with a liquid underlying. The database is built upon historical data, current derivative prices and is outfitted with probabilities and visual graphs which aid in the investment decision making process.

•Pursuing/pursued studies in the following areas to increase my knowledge of the market: Mathematical Finance, Statistics, Probabilities, Risk Management, Volatility Trading/Option Pricing, Portfolio Management, Equities, Fixed Income, Financial Statement Analysis, etc.
