EIS Migration Project: Automated migration of customer, service and ordering information from Legacy systems to newer platform of products and services using custom developed Migration Factory processes. The Migration factory supports these migrations via iterative Gather, Assemble, Transform, and Execute processes based on Informatica ETL tools.

The data gathered using files from various Legacy systems are assembled to a common schema and validated for business rules for data integrity and product parity errors. The Validated data is transformed using multiples layers of business rules and saved in a common schema for loading into the target system. After loading the transformed data, the legacy services are disconnected and the newly created services are activated.

Roles and responsibilities:

Analysis, Design, Development using Informatica PowerCenter tools - Mapping Designer, Repository Manager, Workflow Manager/Monitor and Server tools in an agile project environment.

Oncor is a regulated electric distribution and transmission business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor operates the largest distribution and transmission system in Texas, delivering power to approximately 3 million homes and businesses and operating approximately 117,000 miles of distribution and transmission lines in Texas.

ONCOR EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse) is used for reporting and data analysis. It is a central repository of data which is created by integrating data from MDMS, LCIS, Enterprise Bus Transactions and other transactional data sources. This Data warehouse stores current as well as historical data and are used for creating trending reports for senior management reporting such as daily, annual and quarterly comparisons.

AODS (AMS Operational Data Store) is store of all transactional and operational data. AODS serves as a vehicle as well as a data warehouse for dataflow between MDMS/Head end/Maximo/LCIS and SMTP Portal/AMS Portal/ERCOT. Source systems are MDMS/ Head end/ Maximo/ LCIS. Data pushed to the systems SMTP Portal/AMS Portal/ERCOT from AODS.

As per Texas states regulatory norms, all energy transmission & distribution service like ONCOR needs to provide energy consumption of each retailer on daily basis. No application of current IT infrastructure was able to forecast energy usage before end of billing cycle. Advance metering system operational data store pulls RF meter accurate & estimated readings of each customers on daily basis at 15 minutes interval from MDM application.

Using SMTXP (Smart meter Texas portal) retailers can estimate their revenue on daily basis & regulatory body can check audit energy consumption in states. This application is also part of IBM’s smarter planet initiative.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Address Severity 1 and Severity 2 issues and ensure there is no downtime of the AODS (Advanced Metering System Operational Data Source) application

•Integrating AODS applications with Informatica using Adapters with external systems like LandisGyr the system providing Metering reads, with LCIS billing system, with MDMS (Meter Database Management System), the Rep and ERCOT(Electric Reliability Council of Texas) report generation system and the legacy IODS data management system

•Managing complete AMS (Advance Metering System) and AMIS system includes MDMS, AODS, IODS, PiPe(eMeter), TNS and Edify-IVR application and respective databases

•Requirements gathering, Designing and fulfilling custom requirements in AODS using Sun Solaris, Informatica and Oracle 10g and documenting them according to ONCOR standards and training

•Perform reverse engineering and reviewing of logs and failure in production environment and provide code fix and workarounds in live environment in the minimum duration possible

•Responsible for doing analysis on the performance of the production servers and provide PLSQL query enhancements, code enhancements, Informatica workflow redesign and database tuning solution to achieve performance targets.
