Responsible for the safety, quality and efficient operations of 8 Sales Branch and X-Dock location in western Canada. Had responsibility for the P&L for the region. Improved total recordable incident rate by improving employee awareness training and implementing 5’s and Lean Manufacturing techniques. Inventory Cycle counts results were improved from 4% to less than 1% variance. Picking errors were reduced to less than 1% or 5.2 Sigma. Developed effective internal controls and operated within budget. Improved the Bristol Distribution Center from a cost center to a profit center during 2012. Reduced the Distribution Center foot print by 30 percent while increasing volume by 15 percent and improving efficiency by 13%. Established a Distribution system to service the Pacific Northwest. Along with the Distribution Center managed a Private Fleet, Battery Formation department, Wastewater Treatment area as well as managed a Sales Branch located inside the Distribution Center. Utilized Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency by 30% and reduce dock to dock inventory time from greater than 30 days to 10 days. Private fleet cost per unit consistently better than 3PL costs utilized by other Exide locations. The Sales Branch consistently performed better than budgeted goals. Responsible for sales and account management for NAPA Auto Parts/Genuine Parts Company on behalf of Exide Technologies. Territory included south east Alaska and western Washington State. Established 4 sales and service route trucks. Sales responsibilities included selling to the NAPA Distribution Centers, Jobbers and Dealers. Battery Training clinics were utilized to improve product knowledge and increase sales and reduce warranty dollars. General Battery Corp/Exide Technologies Sumner, WA. Established a new Distribution/Formation Center in Sumner, WA. Oversaw the installation of all production equipment and performed the initial training of the route drivers and office and production personnel. When the Distribution Center was operational, managed a private fleet to service the Pacific Northwest. Responsible for all customer service, battery formation, finishing line scheduling, DOT regulations compliance, Hazardous Materials training and fleet equipment maintenance. On time delivery rate was greater than 98%. The private fleet cost per unit was consistently better than 3PL delivery methods utilized by other General Battery/Exide Technologies locations.
