First clinical rotation (FNPI) 100hrs focused on patient encounters that entailed annual physical exams, well visits and prevention, risk assessment, counseling (eg. Smoking cessation, life-style modification); taking history, performing physical exam, diagnostic reasoning, and assessment with the guidance of preceptors.

Over this semester I practiced at Alexandria Primary Care Associates in Alexandria Virginia.

I participated in the diagnosis and plan of patients care with guidance of preceptor. I have encountered adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic disease and injuries.

Second clinical rotation (FNP2) 150hrs focused on more episodic visits and follow up visits for chronic disease across the lifespan. I was prescribing and ordering and interpreting diagnostics tests. The focus was on developing evidence based management plans with the guidance of preceptors.

This semester I have practiced at Pediatric care setting in Herndon Virginia. I have performed well child exams and managed acute and chronic illnesses.

Third clinical rotation (FNP3) 150hrs focused on the progressive development of the FNP in health promotion, prevention, and diagnosis and management of acute episodic and chronic conditions common to individuals and families across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on advanced competency in the formation and evaluation of comprehensive evidence based plans of care for complex and multisystem disorders.

I had 2 clinical sites during this semester; one was in Fredericksburg community health center in underserved rural area. The other was an adult primary care setting in Woodbridge Virginia

I was seeing patients with acute, chronic, complex and multisystem disorders more independently, in consultation with preceptor. I have performed annual physical exams, well women exams, managed acute and chronic diseases. I have been examining patients, Interpreting diagnostic test and lab results making tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients. I was completing patients’ note on EMR.

Fourth clinical rotation (FNP4) 312hrs

This course was the final synthesis of the theoretical and clinical foundation of advanced practice nursing in the primary care management of individuals and families across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on professional, ethical, and legal aspects of advanced clinical practice. Updates on legislation and health policy are incorporated utilizing multidimensional clinical case studies.

During my final clinical rotation I had 2 clinical sites; one was at MetroHealth DC, HIV clinic, the other was at primary care setting in Woodbridge Virginia with typically adult and geriatric patient population. I was seeing patients independently this semester and diagnosing, developing evidence based plans of care; prescribing medications, ordering diagnostics, interpreting lab results and imaging, Instructing and counseling patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance, referring patients to specialists with minimal supervision of preceptor. I have been performing well adult exam, well women GYN exam, episodic and chronic illnesses.
