Senior Network Engineer

Support for companies network infrastructure which consists of 35 servers, HP Pro-curve switches, cisco routers, Cisco 2960 switches, Hitachi SAN, 13 remote locations, 400+ users, and 6 bundled T1’s in a 24x7 environment.

Migrated most of the companies physical servers to a new Vmware ESX 4.0 environment which consists of 3 HP ESX servers hosted at our colo facility.

Maintaining our virtual servers in the VMware environment through vSphere 4.0 client using clustering, fault tolerance, Vmotion, reconfigure options, alerts/alarms, cloning/templates and importing machines. Also set-up an ESXi test environment to evaluate current and future applications and servers.

Supported the installation and configuration of our Hitachi 4TB AMS2100 SAN, which is used in our new virtual environment. Also set-up our EMC backup device to use with our ESXi test environment for added storage and performance.

Performed an Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 upgrade for the companies email, which entailed moving all existing 2003 mailboxes to Exchange 2007 . This upgrade consisted of loading a 64 bit server with Server 2008, and also changing all applications which pointed to the old email server to the new one and also changing the send/receive connectors to point to the new exchange 2007 server.

Set-up the company ticketing system, support suite, to handle the processing of IT related issues and change control.

Set-up Orion, made by Solar Winds, to handle our Network and Application monitoring for the company. This application allows us to monitor switches, routers, servers, and applications and set-up alerts and reporting on wmi, syslog, performance monitors, and active and passive monitors on our network. Also working with Servers Alive, the Dude, Wireshark, and WhatsUp Gold for various network monitoring tools.

Assist in maintaining and monitoring our Barracuda Spam filter as well as our Cisco VPN 3000 concentrator setting up our users for vpn access.

Work with our Watchguard Firebox X core firewall making any changes as our network evolves. Also configured a duplicate Firebox for redundancy.
