Saved a life <2014>
An ill man, apparently poor, was lying in the middle of main road, near my house. That part being poorly lit and away from crowd, he was about to be run over by an approaching truck. I took initiative, went to the spot and pointed a torch towards the driver to which he stopped about a couple feet away, with a screeching jolt. As I tried to pick up the man, he refused. It seems poverty was killing him and he had made up his mind to end his life. With the commotion, people started coming out on the road and helped to pick the man. I waited for the din to settle a bit, bought him some snack and responsibly offered him a 500 rupee note. He denied initially, but accepted on convincing. Later I left him home that night.
