Fractionating of Ethanol in water using a Distillation Column- Project Team Lead 2015

The project was conducted to obtain various compositions of ethanol in water, using their boiling points. Tasks as team lead included, assigning various tasks to team members to ensure that the project was completed on time. Each member was required to attain pre-set milestones. The quantitative data gathered was analyses and assessed into tables and charts, the data was used to show relationships between boil-up rates and distillation efficiencies. The methods using to conduct projects, the materials used and other relevant particulars were organized and presented to a group of peers.

Fluid Mixing Project Team Lead 2014

The goal of the project was to find an optimal setup for mixing, the variables included; type of blade or propeller used, RPM of blade, height of blade from bottom of vessel and the use of baffles. Various combinations of the above were tested and the mixing efficiencies gathered for each variable. The data was analyzed and presented to a group of peers, including academic staff, and was graded on method, results and the ability to answer questions asked during the presentation

Senior Design Project 2016

The project was to prepare a proposal for a client regarding a capacity increase to an existing crude distillation plant that was running at nameplate capacity. The project deliverables included a converged simulation of the proposed plant addiction, using Simsci Pro/II, Vessel sizing of the distillation column and various storage drums, heat exchanger sizing; calculating the required area for the heat exchangers, under heat duty data provided by the simulation. Costing of various components; considering material type and safety requirements. All the project deliverables were included in a printed proposal, which accompanied a presentation to the client.
