Project Accomplishments

US Defense Network: Managed a team to design and build a separate US Defense Network that protected the data as required by law as defense related data were sitting on a global MPLS network that was connected to many foreign countries. The MPLS was not fire-walled at the local sites

Workforce Mobility: Project entailed concept to connect endpoints to the network wirelessly both in offices and at home and deliver real content. This introduced the ability to work from home seamlessly and walk through the facilities and always be connected to the data securely.

Global Video Conferencing (Polycom HDX): Brought about a reduction to less than half in travel budget and phone conferencing costs, using already existing infrastructure that was rebuilt. This project also immeasurably enhanced communications between locations since they could all now be face to face.

Global Wireless (Aruba) facilitated the ability to use wireless to access the network in the facilities as well as homes. This was one of the infrastructure stages to support Workforce Mobility.

Microsoft Exchange Implementation: This project was brought on by the need to have defense email segregated from the German controlled email system in use and the desire to move from Lotus Notes to Exchange. This system delivered all email to locations in the US and utilized a completely separate domain from the German base of the company.

Global Microsoft Lync Implementation: This project permitted desk to desk video and all of the document sharing and white boarding that the WebEx pay system did to further reduce communication costs on a monthly basis.

Global Microsoft SharePoint Implementation: This project was brought about through careful analysis of many different pain points within the company and with the requirement from business leaders to try and find tools that addressed multiple short comings and not separate tools for each problem.

Global Tablet Rollout iPad and Windows with Smartphones: This project was a piece of the overall concept of Workforce Mobility. Contributed to enhancing customer satisfaction and gaining access to data in places and in ways that not many could do at the time.

Mobile Device Management (Mobile Iron) for Smart Phones: Established a platform other than BES to manage the raft of new mobile devices that were hitting the market. Determined that mobile iron was an easy to use option that would allow a little flexibility and still provided the security the company required.

DR Project: Enabled replication in real time to successfully implement disaster recovery for the organization.

North American Data Center: As a global company HC Starck was very German centric and only wanted data stored in Germany. This scenario is inconsistent with proper design and resulted in much latency and failures. The US organization saw the need to fund and develop a North American Data Center that could be used to geographically distribute applications and safely store data. There was $350,000 budgeted to develop a global datacenter in Ohio. The build out included New Power Generation, Gas Fire Protection, In Row Cooling and Power Protection/Filtering. This center would be at a minimum used to geographically disperse the application and data used by the Fabricated Products Division. This center would also be an integral part of the Disaster Recovery Process.
