My assignments include lighting, lightning protection, grounding, freeze protection, power distribution.

Department of Energy - Aiken, SC. 08/98-03/99, 11/1999-1/2001 & 06/2003-10/2003.

Contract Electrical I&C Engineer to DOE in Aiken S.C. I generated the design instrumentation, P&ID, process for Tritium production and prepared modification packages for Nuclear Waste Storage and fire detection upgrade. Work included calculating and generating design criteria for heat trace of stainless steel process tubing, generated safety evaluation reports addressing the effects of power failure during extraction process. Wrote specifications for radiation resistant instruments; temperature, pressure and monitoring cameras. I provided information to PLC digital I/O and analog components. Wrote logic programming for plant process computer and PLC. Utilized Siemens, ASI Bus for controls. Specify and procure PLC’s, SCADA, MCC, VFD and instrumentation.

Consultant Electrical Engineer, provided electrical engineering functions to move a clean room facility (laser production).Second project, completed industrial a waste-water treatment project, LV power distribution and instrumentation. Heat traced the entire process pipes and tanks, installed Class 1 lightning protection and grounding.

Carter and Burgess-Staples Storage Facility-California. 5/1998-8/1998

Contract employee, Electrical design for power distribution, performed load analysis to California Title 24. Duties included researching codes and regulations, designing and specifying energy efficient control circuits, lighting, essentially utilizing natural lighting to the fullest, providing grounding to all equipment and systems, load analysis and assuring compliance to NEC.

Federal Aviation Administration-Ft. Worth, TX. 5/95-4/98

Systems Engineer to Federal Aviation Administration SW.I

Provided electrical and controls engineering support to establish, relocate and modernize radar and air traffic control towers, radio transmitter and receiver stations. I modified design of transfer switches to remotely start the existing emergency generators. Other duties assigned were airport security upgrade, critical load problem solving, correcting grounding and lightning protection deficiencies for traffic control systems throughout the SW Region, ensuring critical loads had continuous and quality power and thus increasing the safe operation of air traffic control towers.

Consultant to Parsons Systems in Dallas. 6/1993-5/1995.

Provided engineering design for Long Beach, CA and Fargo, ND Water Authorities. Completed the automation drawings with PLC based controls and associated control panel details and specifications. 720 drawings were produced for both projects and overall hardware configuration associated with all system components were configured to comply with ISA, NEMA, ANSI, NFPA, IEEE, NEC, UL and FCC requirements. Approximately 50% of the design consisted of control panels, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) cabinets.

ZZT Minerals Industries in Caldwell, Texas.

Performed electrical and PLC based controls engineering functions to separate lead from electric arc furnace dust (EAF). Directed team of technicians and electrical contractors through commissioning and testing. Specify and procure as PLC, MCC, motors, VFD and instrumentation.

Performed engineering functions to conduct a study and correct deficiencies of compressed air for the Brunswick nuclear plant to reposition and evaluate set points of pressure switches. Correct circuit breaker settings to correct nuisance trips, calculate electrical reactor building penetrations.

TVA - Nuclear Plant Facilities 11/1989-9/1991

Watts Bar assignment, I operated from a support capacity to replace control room annunciation.

Sequoyah plant assignment, Principal Electrical Engineer, managed engineers and technicians, designed control room logic diagrams, wrote procedures, supervised a team for gathering distribution system parameters to calculated electrical fault currents of existing installation.

Browns Ferry performed Appendix R circuit analysis.

Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant-Glen Rose, Texas.

Performed Engineering Functions mainly wrote engineering procedures, calculated cable-pulling in horizontal and vertically-run cables in conduits. Completed the firewater treatment and instruments on the storage tanks; Specified instruments for monitoring and controlling the PH levels. Selected and specified all the level transmitters and switches on the two water storage tanks. Designed heat-trace for the exposed piping, prepared calculations for instrument set points for the entire process, wrote specifications to construct the control panels for the entire system. Designed electrical schematics to satisfy interlocks, alarms and supervised circuits per NFPA requirements.

Performed engineering functions correct deficiencies of installed safety-related (Class 1E) Instruments per “Regulatory Guide 1.97” requirements. Upgrade the instrumentation required to shut-down a nuclear plant during and after an accident. I selected and specified all instruments and qualified isolators between safety and non-safety related zones, generated the design of racks to place all the Class 1E instruments, installed and routed raceways, designed instrument loops, and calculated each instrument’s set points.

Upgrade DuPont corporate buildings downtown Wilmington. Projects completed include upgrade controls for oil storage tanks, power distribution. Specify and procure items such as PLCs, MCCs, motors and instrumentation. Class 1 Division 1 and 2 Areas Indoor.
