Work Experience

mySidewalk GIS intern

Sep 2016 - Present Kansas City, MO

• Currently usingQGIS to apply geospatial concepts, like digitizing and georeferencing, towards building out demographic and geopolitical data.

• Using SQL, ArcGIS Server and Python to perform country-wide data collection and analysis to maintain and organize over 300 tables, datasets and databases. N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Commission Planning intern June 2016 - August 2016 Raleigh, NC

• Worked with biologist to analyze habitat, development features and the presence of wading bird colonies inNorth Carolina. This involved using ArcMap to createmaps to identify priority parcels in priority counties with high biodiversity and development. Mapped potential priority roads for wildlife underpasses based on traffic volumes and surrounding habitat characteristics.

• Used ArcMap to update the North Carolina BiodiversityWildlife Habitat Assessment by processing raster datasets using various spatial analyses and geoprocessing tools. After analysis, provided technical documentation to the National Heritage Program to improve procedure for future implementation.

Research Experience and Projects

Enhancing EcosystemServices Using Diverse Forage Crops Sep 2016 Examined approaches to establishing a functionally diverse forage crop cocktail, within a hayfield for the purpose of increasing hayfield forage plant diversity and productivity. The forage crop cocktail was intended to enhance the diversity of the resident hayfield, as well as contribute to enhancements in overall hayfield productivity via biological interactions among the cocktail and resident hayfield species, rather than through external chemical inputs. Range-wide Survey of InlandWading BirdNest Colonies InNorth Carolina Aug 2016

Used ArcMap’s spatial analysis and geoprocessing tools to analyze the distance of major developments in about 60 counties to over 300wading bird nest colonies. The goal was to provide technical guidance for major development projects and local land use planning inNorth Carolina. Detecting andQuantifying Land Cover Changes InDurham, NH May 2016 Analyzed changes that occurred inDurhamNewHampshire between 1995 and 2007 on ERDAS Imagine. Utilized derivative bands, NormalizedDifference Vegetation Index, Moisture Stress Index and Tasseled Cap Transformation to form a 12-band image for spectral pattern analysis. Finally, createdmultiple images through classification techniques based of signature separability and multiple decision rules to examine the changes.

LandUse Suitability For Silvopasture Establishment InDoverWest May 2016 Researched areas inDoverWest (NH) to find silvopasture with prime farmland, using ArcMap and Multispec. Usedmultiple geoprocessing tools to analyze several layers and orthoimages to create a single layer, illustrating results.

Analysis Of SilvopastureOnMicroclimatic Conditions Dec 2015 Used ArcMap andMultispec to analyzemicroclimatic conditions in silvopasture compared to clear cut, an intact forest and established pasture. Microclimatic conditions measuredwere, air and soil temperature and soil moisture. They were evaluated by using t-tests, creating several raster images and calculating the NormalizedDifference Vegetation Index.
