Mohammad Tamimi

ADDRESS *** ******** ***. ****: 919-***-****

Alexandria, VA 22304 email: acxrym@r.postjobfree.com

I have more than 20 years of extensive experience in the engineering and management fields. I have managed projects that included microgrid design and construction for the U.S. Navy, solar-wind bio-farm development and construction, electric load forecasting, and solar power systems design and construction for peak shaving. I have provided technical consultations to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on vehicle technologies and market trends for its electric vehicle programs. I also led the DOE Vehicle Technology Office Grid Integration Technical Team and the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Implementing Team. At General Motors Advanced Technology Vehicles and the Delphi Corporation, I worked with a wide range of products in the automotive industry, including electric and hybrid electric vehicles, tire inflation monitoring systems, batteries and battery systems, and brake-by-wire technology. I led a team of more than 700 employees in an international manufacturing facility and served as a committee member for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and many other industry organizations.

SELECTIVE PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Microgrid Test Facility Design and Construction, U.S. Navy. Overall program manager for the design and construction of a 3 Million Dollar microgrid test facility at Port Hueneme, California. The photovoltaic (PV) system uses a 750-kilowatt-hour aqueous chemistry battery backup and will be used as a valuation bed for Navy cybersecurity testing.

Transportation Electrification Research, DOE Vehicle Technology Office. Researched transportation electrification topics that shed light on research gaps. Wrote the following white papers: Grid Mod & Electric Transport, Interoperability of EV’s, EV Everywhere Cybersecurity, and 350KW DC Fast Charging.

Solar Energy System Design and Construction, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Managed the design and installation of solar energy systems for power peak shaving at university campus housing. This PV energy system was deployed on campus houses as a pilot-scale initiative to introduce such technology in an international market.

Bio-Farm Development and Construction, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Managed the design and construction of a closed-loop, self-sustaining bio-farm using solar and wind energy. This unique model combined technologies, including luminescent solar concentrators, wind power, solar stills, underground irrigation, and Pozzolan walls cooling system. These technologies were used to create a self-sufficient, closed-loop, unique solution to greenhouse irrigation.

Tire Inflation Monitor Systems Development, Delphi Corporation. Designed, tested, and validated tire inflation monitor systems for vehicle platforms, including the 2003 and 2004 model years special edition of the Pontiac Park Avenue, 2004 and 2005 model years special edition of the Pontiac Bonneville, 2004 and 2005 model years of the Cadillac XLR (Japan Exports), and 2004 and 2005 model years of the Chevrolet Corvette (Japan Exports). The tire inflation monitor is an antilock braking system-based algorithm that is designed to learn the physical parameters of tires and give appropriate warning if the tire loses pressure.

Brake-By-Wire System Research and Development, Delphi Corporation. Researched and developed hill holder technology and brake-by-wire technology. This hybrid electro-mechanical brake system combines front hydraulic actuators with rear electric calipers (brake-by-wire technology) to uniquely advance the area of brake controls. The hill holder algorithm uses electric calipers to launch and stop vehicles on slopes/hills, removing the need for the driver to apply brakes in such conditions.

Cadillac SRX Brake System Development, Delphi Corporation. Overall project manager for the design and release of the brake system for the 2006–2008 model years’ Cadillac SRX.

Battery Test Chamber Development, General Motors Advanced Technology Vehicles. Designed and built a test chamber for liquid cooled nickel metal hydride batteries. The test chamber tested the range, state of charge, and thermal losses of these batteries as a possible replacement to lead acid batteries in the next generation EV1 models.

Battery Pack Control Strategy, General Motors Allison Transmission Hybrid-Electric Bus Program. Designed, developed, and validated the battery pack strategy for the Hybrid System. New York City’s deployment of this lead acid battery system was the first hybrid bus program deployed in the nation.

Power Forecasting Model, Wichita State University. Designed a power forecasting model for the Kansas Gas and Electric Company using artificial intelligence. Combining the capabilities of neural networks and fuzzy logic to complement classic control methodologies, a simulation model reduced the error of power load forecasting for the southeast portion of the state of Kansas.
