Mr. Quiroz has been leading the development of BI/EPM/CPM applications for over 21 years which makes him a guru in the industry. His core expertise is in the architecture, design, development, and optimization of Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance systems using a multitude of technologies, rapid application development tools, OLTP and OLAP technologies. After a role at Microsoft in the Corporate Customer Support group he went on to explore and develop advanced business solutions as a consultant. He was one of the original Hyperion Certified Professionals (since 1996). Microsoft and Oracle certified, he is recognized for his expertise throughout the industry. The company’s reporting department was decimated by sudden attrition, overwhelmed by changing requirements and burdened by a lack of confidence when we first engaged. I acted as the interim manager for the department and overhauled the entire reporting process by reengineering the data feeds into the system, migrating the environment to new servers in a new and more stable data center and upgrading to the most current software available where we could exploit the new features available to increase performance accuracy and reliability. When the cut off took place, the impact to users was practically unnoticed except for the noticeable increase in performance, immediate increase in reliability and no down time. The project was such a success, it lead to a large and successful Hyperion Planning project and several other smaller OLAP projects to follow up. I was able to retrofit and enhance a Reporting environment designed for the Mother Company and pair down the functionality we needed for the spin off, reconnect to new data sources and add an entire new GL data feed within 3 months. Brought in to assess the health of the entire corporate financial reporting and planning system. After thorough analysis, I redesigned and implemented changes to reduce processing and update times by 80% and reduced storage needs to less than 25% of original design. Avon

Brought in to assess the implementation of a third party implementation firm after a year and a half of implementation work and doubling the projected cost. I was able to quickly identify major design changes that lead to immediate performance gains as well as earning confidence of the end users again. I engineered a change in the project team and modified the approach to increase transparency and efficiency in the process between end user, managers and the development team which reduced cycle time, increased deliverable acceptance rates and almost immediately began to get the overall global project back in line with the required and mandated deadlines. This organization has offices all over the world. Each of which has its own, distinct set of accounting processes. In order to gain control of its reporting and budgeting as a global firm, implemented a centralized data warehouse that consolidated 20 disparate data sources. Each of these data sources required its own custom set of ETL processes. In addition to gathering all of the data, we created a centralized set of financial reports to be used as the single reference point for all reporting discussions. This improved consolidation times by 50% 75%. Moreover, we designed, created, and implemented a centralized budgeting system that allowed end users to enter their data and run their models in the system from any of their offices around the world. Reviewed and redesigned existing Planning and Reporting system that had been declared unusable due to the unwieldy design, extremely long processing times and frequent instability of numbers. When redesign and optimization was completed, the new cube size was reduced by over 24 times and 8 hours of processing was reduced to less than 10 minutes allowing the finance team to refresh actual data multiple times a day to assist with closing procedures and analysis. The project was an upgrade of Hyperion Planning and Financial Reporting from version 9.3.1 to version 11x. This required a redesign and optimization of existing Planning and Reporting applications. In addition, Workforce Planning was implemented to plan and report on headcount and a rolling forecast process was created to incorporate actuals into the forecast. This company was unable to provide rolling forecasts on a timely basis. I designed a prototype which lead to the development of an integrated global Planning, Forecasting and Reporting solution for business and manufacturing functions and served approximately 100 end users. This company’s month end close process took entirely too long (over 7 days). Reporting from the various applications was challenging and data integrity and inconsistency was an issue. The CFO was the biggest user of the system and wanted an efficient, more robust system. The result of this project was a reduction in the close process from over 7 days to 2 days while increasing data integrity and reporting capabilities.

Carnival Cruise Line

Led engagement that produced revenues from $0.5 $1.5 million and improved process times by 80% 87%. Utilized automation software to streamline client operations bringing latency to zero, linked and synchronized processes that were performed at multiple International locations. Prior to this project, budget reports relied on heavy manual use of Excel reports with vulnerability to multiple errors. The Planning system was built using standard templates for running global budget information and the system was severely less complicated having the logical data all in one place and centralized. Trained all end users on Essbase and Planning for reporting.

Wyndham Hotels

This company, with over 200 hotels, did not have a centralized reporting structure, nor could it consolidate 200+ individual budgets from varying types of hotels in a timely manner. Designed, developed and rolled out a Hyperion Essbase application which was the first enterprise wide operations/financial reporting application for this company. Created a comprehensive library of 200+ reports for 200+users and centralized the web based budgeting/forecasting system using Hyperion Planning. Multiple corporate and departmental dashboards were designed using Hyperion Analyzer and a legal 500 entity consolidation financial model was created using Essbase for budgeting and forecasting.

Reduced the monthly reporting cycle from a 48 hour turnaround to approximately 4 hours, while increasing data integrity and reporting capabilities.
