PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Accomplished Computer Science Engineering System Professional with expertise in Project Management. Has a proven track record of exceptional performance through balancing priorities, managing complexity and substantial problem solving skills. A customer focused leader with considerable industry knowledge and a commitment to excellence.

EXPERIENCE

May 1991 – August 2014 Chicago Board Options Exchange, Chicago, IL

August 2007 – August 2014 Director of Systems Development

Managed a group of support analysts responsible for processing production software problem tickets that were entered into BMC-Remedy.

Inherited 200 outstanding tickets with my group and within one month, the entire backlog was completed. Currently the oldest ticket not more than three business days old for the remainder of my tenure.

Led group to become more efficient and maintain the same level of customer service after head count reduction.

Led group to successfully investigate all outages and compile and file reports with The Security Exchange Commission within 24 hours.

Flawlessly maintained an error reporting system to alarm on any certain log messages, any large queues throughout the entire system, or when a Java process was running low on memory. This system discovered issues before they became production problems.

January 2004 – July 2007 Senior Software Engineer – Infrastructure Group

Responsible for adding new features to CBOE’s own J2EE Core Infrastructure, called Foundation Framework, and 24-hour production support. Language used Java on Unix and Linux:

Modified CBOE’s filtering distribution nodes used by event channels to allow for 24-hour trading.

Integrated Jetty Web Server into Foundation Framework.

Added JMX and JSTAT instrumentors to automatically log Java’s garbage collections and thread activity into Foundation Framework.

Implemented instrumentation archiving to enhance finding performance and production issues into the Foundation Framework.

Automated recycling of the assurance and certification testing environments daily, using BMC-Control-M.

Coordinated infrastructure setup and installs at the newly created Disaster Recovery site.

Added technical support to CTM (CBOE’s Trade Match) and Back Office/Regulatory rewrites using Foundation Framework.

September 1998 – December 2003 Senior Software Engineer – Common Libraries Group

Responsible for project management and design architect for rewriting legacy applications for the new core object libraries in Foundation Framework. Language used Java on Unix.

Project Manager (designed, programmed, and managed the consultants) for High Availability Printer Systems. This was the first live production project using CBOE’s Foundation Framework.

Lead design architect for the CTM (CBOE’s Trade Match) and COPP (CBOE’s interface to OPRA) rewrite using Foundation Framework.

Was CBOE’s liaison to Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) for the evaluation of CBOECommand. Four months was spent at CBOT installing, teaching, testing, and verifying functionality at CBOT.

July 1993 – September 1998 Senior Software Engineer – National Stock Exchange, CBOE

Main responsibilities were project management and production support. Languages used C, Pl/1, and Cobol on Stratus.

Project lead to migrate from three Stratus CICS modules to one Stratus RISC Continuum. This three to one migration was a technical challenge but went in seamless. The result was a large increase in capacity and cost saving on hardware.

Project lead for CAMS. This was consolidating all three of National’s unique member firm interfaces (terminal, printer, and electronic data) into one common electronic TCP/IP interface. Created an all-new tag based message format. Worked onsite and offsite with member firms to facilitate this conversion. This project allowed new firms to more easily connect into the system, allowing for growth in revenue.

Monitored and coordinated all performance testing and analyses.

May1991 - June 1993 Software Engineer

Developed and supported the Ticker Plant System (TiPS). Maintained and supported CBOE's interface to OPRA (COPP). Languages used PL/1 and C on Stratus.

July 1989 - May 1991 Applied Communications, Inc., Omaha, NE.

ASTech Consultant, Technical on-site lead for certification of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency's kingdom-wide ATM network, installed the Stratus-to-IBM System/38 custom host interface, and programmed and installed custom ATM device handlers (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). Language used PL/1 on Stratus.
