Currently I am a senior at the University of Colorado-Boulder with over two years of experience in an academic research setting, in addition to some experience in an industrial research setting. I have worked on both ends of the research process, design of experiments and data collection, as well as the analysis and interpretation of the data. I have extensive lab experience dealing with cell cultures and molecular cloning and I also have a significant amount of experience using DNA and protein gels, as well as other biochemical techniques such as ELISA, PCR, Restriction Digest, Gibson Cloning and Ligand Binding Assays. EDUCATION

UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO-BOULDER Boulder, CO

Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering August 2013 – May 2017 Certificate in Neuroscience

Anticipated Graduation Date: May 2017

Current GPA: 3.83 / 4.0

Senior Thesis Project: I am studying how the foreign body response is attenuated by mesenchymal stem cells. More specifically I am looking at how mesenchymal stem cells communicate with macrophages through a hydrogel both in vitro and in vivo. This project will give me experience in immunohistochemistry, mammalian cell culture, hydrogel chemistry and microscopy techniques.

Awards: Dean’s List (all semesters), CU-Boulder Esteemed Scholar, Discovery Learning Apprentice, School of Engineering Merit Scholar, REU participant

Affiliations: Neuroscience Club, Biomedical Engineering Society

Leadership: Fall 2016 Teaching Assistant for Material and Energy Balances course EXPERIENCE

SOMALOGIC Boulder, CO

Technology Development Intern May 2016 – August 2016

● Performed binding assays to determine the dissociation constant (Kd) value of SOMAmers (modified aptamers) to various proteins.

● Safely worked with high levels of radiation to radiolabel SOMAmer reagents and consistently performed experiments with radioactive reagents without incident.

● Used a LIMS database to keep an up to date inventory of reagents and reported back experimental results in a team environment.

CHA LAB (CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING) Boulder, CO Undergraduate Researcher August 2015 – May 2016

● Studied how knocking-out different genes in the bacteriophage genome affected the viability of the phage in infected E. coli cells.

● Worked alongside other lab members running a variety of cell culture experiments, completing work in both an individual and team setting.

● Worked to optimize a new gene-editing technique using bacteriophage for a potential startup company. GARMAN LAB (BIOCHEMISTRY) Amherst, MA

Undergraduate Researcher June 2015 – July 2015

● Used a codon-optimized vector to amplify a human gene encoding an activator protein in E. coli.

● Cloned the gene into bacteria and expressed the protein and attempted to purify the protein.

● Worked successfully in a team environment with a strict deadline to complete the experiment and obtain meaningful results.
