Mr. Tasdelen has over 26 years of diversified experience in project management and design in Civil Engineering. Nostar Dam Irrigation Tunnel (D=3.0 m, L=2.1 km), Aydın, Turkey.

As a Project Manager accomplished design of tunnel, tunnel support systems, inlet and outlet structures and impact type stilling basin; coordinated geotechnical investigations; effectively used all resources and promoted significant savings.

Yoncalı Dam Irrigation Tunnel (D=4.5 m, L=9.25 km), Malatya, Turkey. Project Manager, achived design of tunnel, tunnel inlet and outlet structures, tunnel support systems, tunnel portals slope protection and drainage system; analyzed tunnel routes to achive the most applicable and economical alternative to promote significant savings; coordinated groundwater and geotechnical investigations, drilling oversight and seismic analyses; prepared contract bid documents, cost estimates, technical specifications and approximate quantities for contract bid documents. Bağıştaş - I Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), Erzincan, Turkey. Project Manager for design&construction of earthfill dam. Achieved design of cofferdams, upstream impervious blanket, drainage system, spillway, stilling basin, diversion conduit, viaducts, bridges, culverts and fish passage; managed geotechnical investigations and foundation curtain grouting; evaluated fill material properties; successfully overcame artesian problem encountered during cut-off excavation; accomplished slope stability, seepage-settlement analyses, downstream riverbed arrangement; developed dam instrumentation plan and analyzed instrument readings for dam safety.

Right Bank Irrigation Project, Canal Inspections, Batman, Turkey. Inspected over 20 kilometers of irrigation canals and associated structures; investigated landslides, settlement problems at the inlet of siphon conduit; prepared a detailed inspection report with a team of expert engineers and proposed rehabilitation works.

Mardin-Ceylanpınar Plains Main Irrigation Canal Appurtenant Structures, Şanlıurfa, Turkey. Chief Project Engineer for design of Mardin Irrigation Canal (flow rate of 7200 cfs) control structures, a conduit, three diversion structures and three bridges. Also, accomplished water profile studies and head loss computations.

Damlapınar HEPP Conveyance canal landslides, settlement and seepage problems, Karaman, Turkey.

Project Manager, investigated and monitored land slides, settlements, cracks and seepage problems in Damlapınar HEPP conveyance canal. Prepared an extensive report, proposing construction of an anchor wall and retaining wall for canal protection.

Niksar HEPP, Canal Inspections, Niksar, Turkey. Technical Project Manager responsible for investigating seepage, settlement problems, and cracks in the invert of Niksar canal. Recommended grouting injection to stabilize the canal foundation, rehabilitatating of nonfunctional drainage system, and installing of collectors to discharge to Kelkit Stream. Developed an instrumentation plan for settlement measurements along the canal.

Left Bank Irrigation Project, Landslide Investigation, Batman Turkey. Geotechnical Engineer, investigated landslides resulted in failure of the conduit made of FLOWTITE pipes, prepared a comprehensive Investigation Report including suggestions to repair the conduit.

Bozdogan Akçay Left Bank Main Canal Failure Investigation, Aydın Turkey. Geotechnical Engineer, evaluated the root causes of the failure, inspected seepage under the canal, performed extensive groundwater and geotechnical investigations on site for evaluation of soil formations underlying the canal, prepared a detailed Investigation Report, and recommended alternatives for repair works.

Postalı Dam Foundation Seepage Problem, Nigde, Turkey. As a Geotechnical Engineer inspected slurry trench application in Postalı Dam, examined test results according to technical specifications, evaluated borehole samples taken from slurry trench and seepage test results. Prepared a detailed technical report and submitted to DSI General Directorate.

Technical Research and Quality Department, Ankara, Turkey. Geotechnical Engineer responsible for performing laboratory soil tests (permeability, compaction, Atterberg limits, triaxial and consolidation tests) and preparation of test reports for various projects.

Construction Management

Damlapınar HEPP conveyance canal landslide protection project, Karaman, Turkey. Project Manager for the construction of anchor wall and retaining wall to prevent landslides along the canal. Accomplished contract management, inspection and surveying of civil works, preparation of construction documents and cost estimates, calculating approximate quantities for contract bid documents; and prepared payment reports to subcontractors.

Niksar HEPP Canal Rehabilitation Works, Niksar, Turkey. As a Project Manager coordinated installation of drainage system, slope protection of Niksar conveyance canal. Also, accomplished grouting injection to stabilize the canal foundation; prepared contract bid documents, cost estimates, technical specifications and payment reports to subcontractor.

Sakalıkesik and Gunisik Irrigation Projects Bidding Documents, Ankara Turkey. As a Technical Engineer, inspected application projects; prepared work scope, technical specifications, unit prices, cost estimates, bidding documents; and coordinated bidding process.

Foreign Credit Irrigation Projects Financed by Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). Project Engineer, co-worked with CEB’s Technical Advisors to manage loan flow, project implementation and field progress for several projects in Turkey. Also, prepared annual project progressive reports as well as completion reports to be submitted to CEB upon full implementation of the projects.

Southeastern Anatolian Project, Harran Plain Section 4&5 Irrigation Projects(45000 ha), Şanlıurfa, Turkey. Project manager responsible for overall project management including planning, work schedule, construction of irrigation canals and appurtenant structures, roads, canal embankment, drainage system, discharge canals, weirs, pump stations, bridges and culverts. Also achieved contract management, inspection and surveying of civil works, geotechnical ivestigations; prepared cost estimates, unit prices, approximate quantities for contract bid documents and payment reports for sub contractors.

Southeastern Anatolian Project, Main outlet Canal, Şanlıurfa, Turkey. Field Engineer, co worked with Swiss Consulting Company - Ataturk Engineers and Joint Venture(AEJV) to manage construction of main outlet canal with flow rate of 328 m3/s, drainage system of the canal, headrace canal, water intake of Sanliurfa HEPP, spillways, by pass shuts, stilling basin, canal control structures and slope protection works.

Samsat Highway Project, Adiyaman, Turkey. As a Project Manager achieved highway construction, planning, work schedule, borrow source material evaluations, culverts&bridges and road drainage system; inspected the quality of civil works; prepared cost estimates, approximate quantities for contract bid documents and payment reports.

Transportation(Bridges and Highway) Engineering

Bağıştaş - Ilic Highway Relocation, Euphrates River Viaduct, Erzincan, Turkey. Project Manager responsible for design and construction of Euphrate river viaduct project due to highway relocations within Bagistas- I dam reservoir. The viaduct consists of 8 spans with prefabricated prestressed reinforced beams having length of 40 m, has a with of 2x12 m and a total length of 337.50 m. The viaduct piers are supported by a pile foundation system which is left under reservoir.

Bağıştaş - Ilic Highway Relocation, Kurucay Bridge, Erzincan, Turkey. Project Manager for Kurucay bridge project constructed due to highway relocations within Bagistas-I dam reservoir. The bridge consists of 3 spans, with prefabricated prestressed reinforced beams having length of 27.4 m, has a with of 2x12 m and a total length of 82.20 m. The bridge piers are supported by a pile foundation system, which is left under 5m of dam reservoir.

Kemaliye - Kemah Highway Relocation, Box Culvert, Erzincan, Turkey. Technical Project Manager for box culvert project constructed due to highway relocations within Bagistas-I dam reservoir. The box culvert consists of 5 spans with 4m x 4m cross section and has a total length of 60.50 m.

Çileklitepe Weir and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), Power House Bridge, Giresun, Turkey. Project Manage for Çileklitepe HEPP power house bridge having a width of 6m, length of 23m and consisting of steel beams.

Samsat Highway Reconnaissence and Preliminary Surveys, Adiyaman, Turkey. Team Engineer/Leader for locating highway route and choosing the functional and operative highway alignment. Accomplished detailed topographic and geotechnical analyses; coordinated preliminary surveys, located highway route and performed geometric design of vertical and horizontal alignments and cuves.

Edirne-Istanbul-Sakarya Motorway Construction Project, Istanbul, Turkey. Technical Engineer, actively involved in the construction of one of the first motorways built in the west part of Turkey. Accomplished construction of viaducts (long bridges), piles foundation of viaducts, prestressed beams used in viaducts, drainage systems, inspection of construction materials, compaction of road materials.
