PROFILE

I spent several years in the financial industry modeling portfolios for both retail and institutional accounts. I noticed a huge shift in the industry as more and more trading started taking place via algorithm-based software, upon researching this shift, my love for coding began. This led me to Actualize, where I learned that algorithms can be used for so much more than I imagined and can be implemented in so many different ways. The Actualize coding academy was challenging, but the most important thing I learned was that I love to code - whether it's building from scratch or improving what already exists. I love using ruby, rails, js, angular, html, css, and postgresql(along with a bit of jquery and coffee). I am also a quick learner in terms of picking up technologies on the fly.

PROJECTS

Gymmed-Up

Gymmed-Up is a social networking app based solely around fitness. It allows users to select gyms they currently belong to, then pairs users with others of the same fitness level attending the same gym. Important features include email notification upon signup for a new account, one-click account activation, gym selection via the Google Maps API, the ability to follow and unfollow other users, and real-time chat via Action cable provided by Rails 5 (if there is a mutual following relationship). Gymmed-Up was built on Rails 5 with a PostgreSQL database, plus JavaScript, AngularJS, Ruby, HTML, and CSS. EXPERIENCE
